We faced the two tougest teams on our schedule and saw what it takes to be elite. We aint there yet... We lack the high end talent of the our teams. Our team is built of mostly 2/3recruits with power transfers that were phased from there prior teams looking for a place to play. We need to develop a 5-star work ethic and out work the other teams on that schedule. The offensive play calling in the red zone and passing game need to improve. The defense has been shredded for all three fbs games and will need to set the tone for AAC play. Lets hope the bulls  coaches and players felt the hurt we all felt in the beat down at Ray Jay and use it to beat up on other teams.

Good take...we definitely need to shore up the defensive tackling and offensive playcalling near red zone. Our offense at times is quite predictable.  We need more screens and get our playmakers in space. Jet sweeps with J. Smith. Here on out we need to be putting up 35+ a game in this conference.

A big thing we lack especially on defense is depth to play with the big boys.

Look at the stats on Bama and Miami they both have so many more players play on defense to keep fresh we can't do that or we get burned early...but we get gassed late and get burned later in games.

2 and 2 we are fine...new season starts vs Tulane sat.

Depth certainly is a big part but our offense is also designed to minimize our own time on the field.

Have you ever taken them off?

Nope!

I've been wearing mine anticipating our ascent to Number 1 since my early days of Brahmans fandom!

I'm sorry to say it but I am close to taking them off.  Yes, we are way better then our days under Opie and the last year of Charlie, but....   I look at all the teams we have beaten and everyone of them were as big as a dumpster fire as we were with Opie.   They are all teams an average USF team should beat.     I also am worried about next year as we lose so many 5th year and Graduate transfers that we will take a step backwards.

I’m not saying there is anything wrong with keeping them on, I’m saying that if no matter what you would be wearing them reasoning out why you still have them on seems a bit performative

More than the high end talent, we lack the depth.

Yeah, I don't try to reason it out.  It's just an innate quality of my personality.   While I am not generally an optimist, there are some things I believe in spite of the evidence and consequences because the alternative is not acceptable to me.  Like the fact that believe in love and marriage after two nasty divorces.  Similarly, there is the mostly unrequited love of my alma maters and sports teams.

I think my old friend Edgar Winter may have summed my view of the long run best.

Mmm
You know I've heard it said there's beauty in distortion
By some people who withdraw to find their head
Now they say that there is humor in misfortune
Sometimes I wonder if they'll laugh when I am dead
Why am I fighting to live
If I'm just living to fight?
Why am I trying to see
When there ain't nothing in sight?
Why am I trying to give
When no one gives me a try?
Why am I dying to live
If I'm just living to die
Yeah
You know some people say that values are subjective
But they're just speaking words that someone else has said
And so they live and fight and kill with no objective
Sometimes it's hard to tell the living from the dead
So I'll keep fighting to live
If there's no reason to fight
And I'll keep trying to see
Until the end is in sight
You know I'm trying to give
So come on give me a try
You know I'm dying to live
Until I'm ready
Until I'm ready
Until I'm ready
Til I'm ready to die
Hey, hey, hey, hey

I think our depth is fine for conference play....not top teams in the nation.

Will be nice playing teams that don't have such a boat load more talent than us and depth. Now if we get blasted this year by Fau and Uab...then we got some big problems.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
