Women's BB Strength of Schedule

As we collect ourselves from yesterday's game on the gridiron, I figured I would write a hype post for the women's basketball season, seeing that the season is about 6 weeks out. This year will probably be the most exciting year in history as they will probably begin the year with a top 5 strength of schedule. We'll probably see six teams that are currently ranked in the ESPN's Way-Too-Early Top 25. Here is what we have on tap:

1. South Carolina - #1

2. UConn - #3

3. Notre Dame - #4

4. Duke - #11

5. Louisville - #12

6. Utah - #22

That's 3 top 5 teams and 5 in the top 12. In addition, we have Miss St, Vanderbilt, and perhaps TCU (Hailey Van Lith) on the schedule.

For this challenging schedule, we will have the roster to compete, with perhaps the best collection of guards in school history and perhaps the nation in:

1. Puisis 

2. Dembele

3. Thompson

4. Tomasicka

5. Blasigh

Last year, we did not have any guards that could take it to the hoop and score. Dembele, Thompson, and Tomasicka are all capable of doing that. In addition, they have excellent ball-handling skills and can bury it from deep. With Puisis' return and hopefully Blasigh's improvement, we have 5 guards that can light it up. Dembele was also 6th in the country last year in assists and steals. And hopefully, Aarnio has improved her outside shooting to add this to this group.

I would also argue that our front court will be improved over last year's squad. 

So, look for an exciting season with some upsets of some ranked teams.
