Lets also consider he faced Bama and Miami not some easy defense at all.
Now he has started slow vs FAMU but we saw some improvements vs USM.and last night I felt.

Umm we didn’t play FAMU this year lol and BCC is now 0-4.   Tow touchdown passes in4 games and both against Southern Miss. he is off this year

I also saw key drops by the receivers last week against USM.  The passing game just looks discombobulated.

excuses for failure

he looks horrible when he passes the ball. he rarely hits the receivers on target.

i expected much more from him

ward had poise and calm

brown always looks like he hurries the pass and feet arent set

the play calling in the red zone was simply dumb.GO FOR TDs

To my untrained eye, his mechanics seem to have changed from last year.  Obviously the passing game has regressed...how much is BB and how much is it the receivers?

what receivers?

im astounded at the lack of production in out passing game

when team double team atkins who will brown throw to?

browns mechanics last night are horrible

this team cant play from behind so we need to get out in front  early

Not to dump on BB...I really do like the kid but maybe we're seeing why a lot of schools passed on him during the recruiting process.

Below, I show where Byrum Brown ranks within our conference in a number of categories for the 10 quarterbacks with at least 90 passing attempts.

Passing Yards - 7th

Yards per Attempt - 8th

CMP% - 10th (Last)

TD - 9th (Tied for last)

Rating - 8th

So, there it is. We can talk about all the possible issues, such as play-calling, quality of players, etc; however, poor QB play has been the primary issue through the first 4 games. And poor accuracy has been the number one issue in the poor QB play. If our QB is ranked last in the conference in accuracy and ranked near the bottom in other important stats, we cannot ignore that, especially if we are expected to go unbeaten in conference, as many think we will.

Lol for sure this is on point. I appreciate everyone's optimism as I want the best for this team and school as well. But let's be real. I created a post right after the BCU game with huge concerns about BB and his accuracy. Everyone said "oh it's just the playbook...we were too vanilla." That never made sense bc that doesn't affect accuracy lol. Now the excuse is oh we played Miami and bama. But he had time and guys were open.

He has had time to throw against Bama and Miami, and receivers have been open. He missed them badly. Last night was the worst. There were multiple throws that did not come within 10 yards of the receiver.

Exactly!! It's so frustrating seeing other G5 schools having much success with the passing game, even just the fundamentals.

Called being realistic.

Ward had poise cause we couldn't get a hand on the guy all game.

Brown all game was being rushed.

Let's see how he looks now once conference play starts. We don't have a team built to take on top teams like that...we can hang for a half or so then depth takes over.  Hey a few  years ago this game been over on the second drive. We are improving. Top teams aren't built in a few years...especially when we are in a G5 conference.

I will agree the red zone play calling was not great...and should have gone for it late on 4th and 6 before halftime.

I think he was really off in the first 2 games. If he threw against bama the way he was throwing last night, we win. It's not dialed in just yet, but he ripped a couple of throws on the money yesterday and it feels like he's getting back to where he needs to be. Overall, I thought he played pretty well last night, but we couldn't run the ball and RedZone play was poor all around. But, I suspect his numbers are very skewed by the first 2 games if you're just throwing stats out. And as others have mentioned, 2 games vs too 5 teams is going to factor in as well.

He definitely doesn’t look like the same guy who was hyper-accurate and completed 20 straight throws in his first start and his mechanics surely aren’t the same. He’s changed his body type and it looks like that has affected his mechanics. That said, our receiving corps is subpar. Somebody needs to find out what the heck happened to Naiem Simmons and it may be time to throw some of the young receivers into the mix. There’s not much of a rotation there.
