GAME DAY vs. Tulane

USF will open American Athletic Conference play on the road for the fourth time and the first time since falling, 41-17, at SMU in 2021. The Bulls are 1-2 in AAC road openers and 4-3 all-time in conference road openers. The Bulls will be playing their fourth conference opener in the last five seasons away from Raymond James Stadium. Two were true road games - at SMU and at #15 Cincinnati (L, 28-7 in 2020), while the Bulls opened the 2022 AAC season falling to ECU (48-28) in Boca Raton, the game being moved from Tampa due to Hurricane Ian.

AT TULANE: USF will be playing at Tulane for the first time since a 45-14 loss in the second-to-last game of the 2021 season. USF has lost its last three meetings with Tulane with the last and only win the series for the Bulls coming at Tulane in 2017 in 34-28 victory. In that game, No. 16 USF set a then NCAA record with its 24th consecutive 30-plus point scoring game and continued the best start (7-0) in program history, USF jumped to a 34-7 lead behind Quinton Flowers (138 yards rushing and 3 total TD). The Bulls ran for 378 yards and posted 505 total yards while extending their school-record winning streak to 12 games. USF finished the year 10-2 and ranked No. 21.

ATKINS NEARS RECORD: Coming off a career-best 11 catches (2nd most in a game in USF history) and his fourth career 100-yard receiving game (125) vs. No. 8 Miami, Sean Atkins enters the Tulane game with 145 career catches, just eight shy of the 10-year old career mark of 153 set by Tampa native Andre Davis from 2011-14. Atkins is riding a string of 17 straight games with at least four catches, the second-longest active streak in FBS football, and stands fifth on the USF charts with 1,695 career receiving yards, 441 shy of Davis’ record of 2,136.

TURNOVER TRAIN: USF saw its string of forcing two or more turnovers in a game end at five straight vs. No. 8 Miami, but did collect one and now stands 10th nationally with nine on the year. USF forced three turnovers in back-to-back games at Alabama and Southern Miss, and has gained three or more in five of the last eight games, dating to last season.

TV: ESPNU: Matt Schumacker (P-by-P), Dustin Fox (analyst)
AUDIO: 102.5 FM, 102.5-HD2 The Strike; TuneIn (Bulls Unlimited)
SERIES: Tulane leads, 3-1
IN TAMPA: Tulane leads, 2-0
IN NEW ORLEANS: Tied, 1-1
LAST TIME: Tulane won, 45-31, in Tampa in 2022
CONFERENCE OPENERS: 11-10
CONF ROAD OPENERS: 4-3, last, L, 41-17, at SMU ‘21
AAC OPENERS: 6-5, last, W, 42-29 vs. Rice, 2023

I'm loving this guy.  Right mentality.  For the 15 years I was coaching HS and down, it was all about putting it out there, every game.  No regrets.  If you're tired, don't wish you had gone full.  Go all out, every second.  If you're sitting there at the end having done everything you are capable of, if you gave it all never giving in, you'll have no regrets.  It takes true competitors to do that every game.  You don't summon that just for championships or big games.  Every game.

No regrets Bulls.

Tough game. Many excuses for losing it. Golesh needs to show something here.

A bye week is much better after a win.

Going to be a tough game. Hope they bring A game to this one.
