Some interesting nuggets in here. The two below particularly stood out to me -

1. $100MM athletics budget?!?!

2. $1MM -> $3MM tripling the nutrition budget for our athletes (maybe making $2MM/yr more in the PAC will be worth it after all, it'll pay for our food!)

Conference realignment dominos are once again falling, and USF is in a prime spot to take its athletics to the next level

hard to argue with anything he said

i think golesh stays for a while - you literally get to build your own facilities

talk about a unique opportunity in the college football coaching landscape

as far as realignment goes

i mean, picture in a few years, USF has won the AAC a few times, is packing Ray Jay, has these elite facilities coming, maybe gets ranked a handful of times, etc.

never say never but it's REALLY hard to picture a world where USF is not in the picture nationally

to VPMK's point, whatever that means in a few years

I feel the same way. CAG gets to put hi stamp on our rise to the top as an athletic program and on the field. The money will come for him and he gets to build his own legacy. The current freshman recruits are looking pretty good, so he has a good foundation for even after Byrum Brown graduates.

"We’ve already redone his contract twice since he’s been here, and to his credit, it’s mostly been about what goes into the program — and mainly his staff. There’s over $1.5 million more invested in his staff than what he first inherited here"

"there’s money that we’re spending on our student athletes and investments that we’re making that is superior to some of the P4. We operate as a P4 program already, so now we have to do that over the long haul."

The revenue generation from the opening of the OCS is going to help tremendously. Right now the only thing we get paid for is essentially the Publix logo on the field. Soon we will receive parking, concessions, all advertisement, stadium naming rights, etc. We will be able to afford a $5MM+ head coaching salary, and boost the assistant pool quite a bit.

CAG is gone the minute a $4+ million contract at a decent P4 is dangled in front of him. Don’t delude yourself into thinking otherwise. Hopefully, that isn’t any time soon.

I choose to delude myself.   We are building a stadium after all and 99.999% of people (total population - me) said that would never happen.

But why? Sometimes you find a good gig and no amount of money can lure you away. He's already a millionaire. He's young, so he might not have that more more more no amount is ever enough boomer mentality.

Plus we got to start thinking way ahead. It is becoming more obvious that the P4 won’t be the same or may not exist. It will probably become something else. What USF is doing is positioning themselves to be a part of whatever comes next imo

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
