In high school/college the libero often replaces one of the middle blocker/hitters when they rotate to serve.   The libero can serve, it’s not required.  They usually serve for one of the middles.  It all comes down to the 15 substitutes they are allowed per set.  They swap out for one player and it doesn’t count as a substitution for the entire set.  When the libero rotates to the front row, they are replaced by the other middle.  There’s more nuances to it but this gives some perspective.

International volleyball does not allow the libero to serve.

I was at the match on Saturday.  The corral was pretty full.  USF has improved. Bigger on the front row but not huge.  The middle# 2 is less than 6’ but she has some nasty quick springs.  She did recruit some size as well but they’re young.

Beach volleyball is very different than indoor.

Good to hear they do have some size that maybe just needs experience.

And after watching club/hs vb for 12 years, I'm not sure I ever knew that there were only 15 subs allowed per set, outside the libero ...

libero reminds me of biblioteca, is there one of those?

I just like old fashioned volleyball.  Fun to play, fun to watch.  I don't even know what a libero is, although it seems like it tends to be the shortest and most hyperactive girl on the floor.

Tough team to start with on the road.  Should have played them in Ireland.
