GAME DAY vs. B-CU

Coming off the biggest turnaround in program history and a 45-0 rout of Syracuse in the Boca Raton Bowl, USF will look to continue the tremendous momentum generated under second-year head coach Alex Golesh. The Bulls return 19 starters in (nine on offense, eight on defense, and two specialists) from a team that set 12 team and 16 individual program records while going 7-6. USF returns record-setting starting quarterback Byrum Brown, 85 percent of its rushing yards, 84 percent of receiving yards and four primary starters on the offensive line. On defense, USF returns nine of its top 11 tacklers led by linebacker Jhalyn Shuler, who logged a team-best 97 stops to go with 8.5 tackles for loss in 2023.

SEASON OPENERS: USF will look to snap a three-game losing streak in season openers dating to a 27-6 victory over The Citadel to open the 2020 COVID shortened season. The Bulls are 19-8 all-time in season openers and 16-3 at home. USF fell at Western Kentucky (41-24) to open the 2023 season and lost to #25 BYU (50-21) in 2022 in their last home season opener. USF won five straight season openers from 2014 to 2018, but is just 1-4 since 2019.

HBCUs: The Bethune-Cookman game will mark the fourth straight year and fifth in the last six that USF has faced a historically black college or university. The Bulls have downed Florida A&M (2023 & 2021), Howard (2022) and South Carolina State (2019). USF has HBCU’s on its schedule each year through the 2028 season (BCU returning in 2026 and 2028), a span of eight-straight years and nine of 10.

WATCH LIST: USF saw players named to nine national awards watch lists entering the 2024 season, USF’s most since 13 entering the 2017 season, which culminated in a 10-2 record and 17 weeks ranked in the Top 25. Quarterback Byrum Brown tied Quinton Flowers (2014-17) for the most watch list appearances in program history. Brown matched Flowers’ 2017 season mark as he has been named to the same five watch lists for the Davey O’Brien, Johnny Unitas and Manning quarterback awards as well as the Walter Camp and Maxwell college player of the year awards

Merry Christmas Eve, y'all. What time is everyone getting to bed tonight? The earlier you get to bed the quicker gameday comes...

I guess this assumes we've already stopped working for the day?  That's usually the first question.  :roflmao:

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
