I don’t have to read that story to tell you that Mr. Kelly is 100% correct. I saw Pernetti‘s plan and it was as dumb as anything I’ve ever heard of.
 

However it does point to the fact that USF is in the wrong freaking conference.  It should be despised.

Get us out.

To be clear, am I against a G5 playoff? No. 

I just don't want to be in the G5 to begin with.

So, once we are out of the G5, sippin' cocktails and rubbing elbows in the greater Raleigh-Durham metroplex, I'm fine with it.

Think of it like Judge Smails...."Oh, but it looks good on you though".

Random G5 school: "I don't think I'm gonna get into a power conference. Our enrollment isn't that large, our stadium isn't very big and our athletic programs across the board have been average. There isn't a way for us to get to the CFP"

MK is 100% on this one.  This commish should be watched with side eye now.  At least the B12 commissioner is trying to sell out to PE and corpos to try to survive 5 more years as sad as it looks.

Perhaps we should follow the example that has long worked for Notre Dame and recently for SMU and BYU -- affiliate ourselves with a religion (or perhaps start our own) so that we have a divinely mandated fan and donor base that would capture the P2's imagination.

Maybe Tom Cruise can come to CLEARwater and give us some guidance.

Pernetti is doing what he's supposed to be doing, looking out for his conference as a whole. MK is doing what he's supposed to be doing, looking out for USF football at this point in time. His response was the same as every other G5 AD out there should be, eye on winning the conference, shooting for the CFP, crossing other bridges as they come up.
