At least you are thankful for what you do have and making the best of your situation.  That is a win.

I just picked up 2 5 star DTs and a 5 star CB so maybe?

I tested it where I maxed the pass coverage  bonuses and it made zero difference in the secondary scheme tree. Until there is a massive update to pass coverage I would not waste any points on the passing defense tree. I found hurry up offense upgrades,ground and pound offense, and passing offense actually did help though. The only thing I found on defense is try to shut down run as much as possible, blitz the qb creates sacks and turnovers, and hope your defense backs just don't anything to cover or slow the receiver.  So many times they are so far away switching to them is useless.

After that mess, I decided I'm just gonna user a CB moving forward. Sure the deep safeties screwed up, but most of the plays given up are by my CBs, so I'm gonna user-control the worst one and hope I can make a difference.

Yes!  This is the only way it works.  If you can scare the QB (hell I'll take the DE and sprint in an arc behind him and he'll throw it), then your guys will jump routes and get INTs and such.  I have noticed that I get more turnovers when those bonuses are applied to the defense, but you still have to press the QB.

I'm trying blitzes more because if they are going to auto dink and dunk down the field then who cares if I get burned.  I noticed when it is 3rd down they always get to the line even my guy will inexplicably tackle them 5 yards behind them into the 1st down and other nonsense.  The CPU is an ass.

Also I am using triangle and right stick down to tell everyone to play underneath sometimes.  You can also I think R1 and left stick to press or give cushion.  That's randomly worked out for me but I have no idea.

I see on Reddit they are recommending tweaking the CPU QB accuracy in the game sliders to make it more realistic.  I'm more cautious about tweaking this stuff.

I used to be a slider tweaker in my younger days, but I found that it changes the game up too much and can sometimes make gameplay worse. I just stick to default. On OS so many guys go through "Slideritis" that they never actually play the game b/c they are so hell bent on creating the "perfect" slider set.
