If you don’t think USF is fired up for Saturday’s football game at Raymond James Stadium against 10th-ranked Miami, think again. The university announced Sunday

USF had planned to open only the 45,000-seat lower bowl for this game, which is one of the most highly anticipated home games in recent years. Instead, the plan now is to open Ray-Jay’s west deck, increasing the stadium’s capacity to 55,000 for this game.

USF drew 36,694 fans to watch this season’s opening game against Bethune-Cookman. That was the Bulls’ only home game so far.

That exceeds the planned capacity of 35,000 in the on-campus stadium USF plans to open in 2027.

We have Notre Dame coming here in 2029.

Will it be held at RayJay?

If not, i bet it gets canceled. That is going to be an interesting thing to keep an eye on. Will big name teams continue to do the 3 game series with us with at 35-40k seat stadium.

Honestly in the future, I wouldn't mind a RayJay game maybe once every 5 years or so against a big opponent.

Would be odd to see it get cancelled since there is a return trip to ND in 2031.

There is precedence of moving ND road games to a defacto neutral venue.  Georgia Tech moved their ND home game this year to Mercedes Benz Stadium, so its not out of the question.

Curious as to how many times in the modern era ND has played an away game in 40K or less stadium ...

In 2031 Ray Jay may already be replaced.

I think this is going to be contractually necessary if we are going to get our premiere name opponents to play their 1 for 2 in Tampa.  ND, Alabama and any other top, top tier B10 or SEC teams are not going to agree to play in our OCS.  BUT for Florida, FSU and Miami, they come to OUR house or we don't play them.  What you think?

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
