AAC football (2019 contract extension) is slightly ahead of Big East basketball (2024 contract).

Season 9 No GIF by The Office

I'd expect our next contract to be more - but only if we can maintain some good TV slots. This might mean Friday nights or something if necessary. The new B1G and SEC contracts will put their schools in nearly every OTA time block for Saturdays. If we can maintain some time slots (and big OOC games + relevant in-conf games), then we should expect a hefty increase to our contract. What that looks like idk, maybe 50% more? $10-$12mm/year?

Since they're gonna lose the NBA, they have a little money to play with.

Fascinating ... since Warner Brothers, ESPN, and Fox already have Venu Sports ... if this happens I wonder if CBS will add their sports to the new venture.

The streamers are bleeding money with their bespoke crappy offerings.  Consolidation is inevitable!

Please tell me this means Charles Barkley will suddenly call football games.

Don’t really care if he calls games or not but him on the postgames would be awesomeness.

B12 having to look at new windows, feeling the squeeze from B1G/SEC tv contracts. This is what the AAC should be doing too - to make sure we secure as many prime opportunities for our schools to garner eyeballs. I'd rather play on Thursday night ESPN than Saturday at 12 or 3 on ESPN+. USF needs eyeballs - to prove the commercial slots during our programing are as valuable as possible.

There's something to be said for that. If you want to maximize television exposure, you might want to avoid competing with, arguably, more popular (better) options in prime slots. You're never going to please everyone, but the Saturday buffet is pretty crowded. Just sayin' 😏
