Yeah, but the CC permit is valuable if traveling, as other states have reciprocity agreements with Florida. As long as you don't meander across the state line with your shootin' iron tucked in your britches, ain't no thang. The verboten venues for weaponry are pretty much the same as used to be the requirement with cc permits.  But, if one is lookin' for a shootout, Florida is certainly the place to find participants. You'd be surprised how a gun can transform Poindexter into Sergeant Rock...or so he believes. :FIREdevil:

It’s insane that I actually feel my daughter is now safer living thousands of miles away from me in the UK - in a city of 9-million - where homicides involving a firearm in 2022-23 were a total of TWENTY NINE. In 2023, Florida had 28 MASS shootings. We are a ridiculous society to accept this. More thoughts and prayers.

I feel bad for the lawyer trying to defend his client, who was quoted as complaining that the cops didn't want to listen to the four-time felon who was armed with a firearm and is now a killer who is currently out on bail for nasty charges in Manatee County.

There should be a lot of witnesses to explain what really went down.

You are correct, it is not OPEN carry.  It is permitless concealed carry.

Just a personal experience with open carry. Was driving up I95 one time and stopped, IIRC, in NC for the night. Went to a Cracker Barrel and spent my meal watching some guy at the next table with a gun hanging by his side. Very unsettling.

I prefer to conceal carry. Some people  are scared of open carry and I respect that.  Even it was open carry,  I would  prefer to conceal  carry.

The guns you see should be of no concern and if anything should make you feel safer, worry about the guys that have it in their waistbands.

We are a fragmented group of strangers with millions of people flowing in with no interest in assimilating.  Our so called society glamorizes violence and there is no appetite to enforce law and order.  We accept that what we cannot change, for the most part most of us are insulated from this type of nonsense.

The UK also wrestles with significant immigration issues, but it has a very different approach to gun control. But you’re right, most of us are insulated from it and uninterested in a solution - until it comes to our school, movie theater, shopping mall, church, etc. and changes our lives forever. But it won’t happen to me - it’ll be the other guy, right?

There are a lot of obvious comparisons to the UK and US (pros and cons), but I've accidentally locked too many threads.

Anyway, I keep checking back looking for good news on Battie and it's like crickets on that front.

That ship has sailed, we have 500 million guns in the country already, no amount of gun control will make us safer, the exact opposite.  We have cultural issues that are beyond repair, expecting this government to fix this problem is foolish, protect yourself and don’t rely on them is my suggestion.

I have been searching, more info about the circumstances but no updates on his status.
