I’d have to go back and look (I was making some dinner) but it seems to me that Coach Abdur-Rahim likes to break presses with the pass and not just give it to someone to try to dribble through it.  I thought I saw some passing through it.

You are correct. He did this strategy during the first game as well when the sc st started pressing a couple of times. Tonight the same happened, it was pass after pass which made me start chipping at my nails lol.

Beating it with the pass gets you easy transition points, dribbling through it... not so much.

Agreed yet there still needs to be some movement or quicker decision making with it. I don't recall any easy transition points when they started pressing. Our guys would completely stop and corner themselves at times to make for a more difficult pass without rhythm. A couple of turnovers happened due to a high difficulty pass which took away from our 15 pt lead.

Somehow I get the feeling that, if I had never said anything about Placer, more people here would be saying great things about him. But because some pushed back, I think they are unwilling to admit that he is good. The first couple games, he was not doing too much, just being calm running the offense. In this game, either coach told him to do more, or he decided it himself.

As he displayed in this game, he can score from anywhere. Only Youngblood shoots the 3 better, and he can drive and score in so many ways, unlike anyone on the team. While Reid is quick, he has not demonstrated to me yet that he can take over a game or drive to the hoop and score. He tried that 5 times in the last game and got rejected 3 times and tossed up a bad shot to avoid being rejected on the other 2.

He definitely had a good game but before that he was 1 for 6 from the 3 pt line, scoring 15 points in 2 games so the jury is still kind of out, on him and the whole team. He continues playing like did Sunday, he'll get his props ....

I think it was a good matchup for Placer. I think he’ll probably struggle against quick, athletic guards. UNI’s guys couldn’t be described as either.

We're 3 games in. Think it will be a bit before we get good reads on many of these guys.
