I was already going to root for Tulane, but can you explain how us being in a bowl game against Syracuse is dependent on Tulane winning?

If SMU wins, then Tulane would likely be going to the Military Bowl.

I believe they are predicting that Tulane will go to a NY6 game if they beat SMU today. If they don’t win no one in the AAC goes to a NY6 game this season which drops teams down in the bowl pecking order. So hopefully Tulane wins

IF SMU wins they would go to NY6 bowl. It would give them a win against a ranked opponent so they would jump Liberty and Toledo.

Either way an AAC team will be representing Group of five teams.

A no brainer but we're not sure how far SMU is outside the rankings and how much weight the Committee will give to Liberty's victory over NMSU in ccg .... but Divine intervention should be Liberty's only hope either way.

Liberty is undefeated and SMU has 2 losses.

My guess is Liberty takes it

SMU is pretty close.  2 spots behind Liberty in Coaches Poll, 5 spots behind Liberty in the AP poll.

In the main poll though  SMU not ranked, but Liberty ranked. So it will be a close one if SMU wins. SMU probably might need a convincing win.

Liberty didn't play a P5 team. SMU played 2 but lost both ....... Tulane needs to win, for multiple reasons.

GO Tulane. Lets not let SMU win their first AAC championship on their way out.

I fully agree with Trips on this one.

Liberty has played the 133rd ranked schedule out of 133 programs.

Not sure where SMU is, but they’d certainly have better wins than Liberty, including a Top 25 win.

They’d go over Liberty.
