So the students care about mostly about supporting a winner and playing teams they’ve heard of, interesting. Didn’t read anything about the stadium being the cause for the lack of interest.

I hope so too. After going 1-11, this year feels a little better people are talking more about going to games and mentioning it around campus, but I worry it's going to die down again like last year.

How do the students feel about football and athletics in general? When I was there football was everything but I guess we were at the peak in a power conference beating top 25 teams.

People do not really care about athletics it seems. You sometimes hear students complain that they should cut funding to athletics and put more into academics. It is kinda sad, but all the people I hang around are infavor of athletics and enjoy going no matter how bad we are. To be honest, I've seen a lot of students go to either uf, fsu, ucf to watch football instead of usf games... I'd say only 10-15% of students have probably been to any kind of athletic event. Seems like the majority of people at usf are here for academics and thats it, commute to school and go home, not caring about sports or even socializing.

Anyways, the short answer is that follow athletics are not a top focus for students here. Hopefully I made sense.

Better crowd than I anticipated. Said 14k, think it might have been in the 18-20k range. That said, there wasn’t much to cheer about so it felt dead-ish for most of the game.

I don’t know what game you were attending. No, not much to cheer about, but the actual attendance was definitely north of 25,000.

That makes sense. I have noticed less and less students tailgating before games over the last 4-6 years. We used to get there early and tailgate until kick off. Seems the students are following Judy's  leadership and vision of focusing on academics  and neglecting and ignoring   athletics.  Thank you for your feedback man. I hope one day soon we get the train back on the track so you get to experience a packed Ray Jay full of students and fans.

I think it was closer to 40,000 than 15,000. Lots of people in the club and many people left when it got out of hand going to tailgate and watch good football on the tvs in the parking lot.

Just wanted to mention here that I am a diehard student. I’m at every game, win or lose, but I have a complaint.

I got there yesterday 15 minutes early (worked overnight the night before so I slept in late Sat) and I was turned away from the student parking lot and sent to Lot 2. I got to Lot 2 and showed my student ID. They told me that they know the student lot is full, but that they couldn’t take free parking there. They were charging students full price, and a lot of us were doing U-Turns and leaving.

I wasn’t about to pay $30 for parking (that’s a lot for a broke college student) so I parked at Al Lopez Park and walked in 20 minutes late.

USF, your students need to be able to park at games if you want us to show up. I am always going to go to games but this could be too much BS for casual student fans who were barely willing to show up anyway.

Good feedback.  I hope someone who can do something sees it.

My blood still boils thinking about all the students who dressed up in blue and orange to watch us take on the Gators last year 🙄

Why would a student rep for a school that said that they weren't good enough to attend their school?

We will see. Announced attendance was 36k+ and the average difference between announced and actual attendance is ~16k so yeah, I’ll stick with 20k. If you are correct it will have been the smallest discrepancy between announced and actual this season.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
