If we could not have CJL at USF then B Davis would be a GREAT choice to replace the LEGEND.....

He was coach at Miami from 1995 -2000, in 1994 Mimai got some harsh scholarship sanctions from the NCAA and their then coach Dennis Erickson ran to the NFL. Davis suffered some rough years and did eventually bring Miami back to dominance (built the nat'l title team).

He never did it cleanly though like a number of Miami players from the 80s - til about the end of his tenure (Coker has done a great job cleaning it up since then, there have been bumps, but no cop beatings or drug charges yet) they had quite a few legal run ins. One beat up a cop outside a club, etc...

Well he went to the NFL. Was canned for being terrible at that level and is now looking for a job in college.

I'm not sure I understand how they mishandled Barnett and I thought he was doing a good enough job on his own at running things into the ground.

Well, its not like Colorado was some godly team when he took it over.  He has 3 B12 north titles in the last 4 years, and the school went behind his back this year after deciding to give him hope following last season.  Uncalled for.

You can say Colorado backed into the North titles, and it's true.  But its the same thing as with Nebraska's frank solich (although firing him was DUMBER), you dont fire coaches for consistent winning records, ESPECIALLY at programs that have not exactly been competing for the NC year in, year out anyway.

Watch who CU hires.  If they get Hawkins (and i'd have to stop wishing bad on them then, because hawkins is a good coach), it's a decent upgrade.  The wake forest coach? not so much!  He's good, but no better than barnett!  Those are the only two candidates I've seen as legit possibilities lately.

Was it worth it to CU to stake their future on getting hawkins?  We'll see.  I hope they find a special place in the big 12 north below kansas, missouri, and kansas state.

I'll agree with you that they mishandled him last year by giving him an extension. I feel they were blinded by the big12 titles and being able to beat Nebraska a few years. You can't deny that Barnett has really killed the intergrity of that program. If do then you haven't been paying attention the last few years.

ESPN.com, SportsLine, Rocky Mountain News, Denver Post, and Idaho Statesman all confirm offer talks between Hawkins and CU.  Hawkins could've been a fit for Notre Dame or Stanford (he played @ UC Davis).  Runs a similar offense to Denver Broncos.  Needs to leave Boise (four straight WAC titles).  Makes Boise a lame-duck vs. BC.  I picked BSU before learning of this.

Thats a joke right.  He may have actually had lyme disease but that wasn't the cause of his crazy behavior.  That was a cover up because he is a coach's son. Sexton was on some serious drugs, my guess is shrooms or acid.
