Offseason stuff - Our OGs

I was thinking this morning about how many of the recruits USF is trying to pull in weren't around for the start of the program and likely only have a span of maybe 5-10 years knowing anything about the Bulls which means they may know little about the founding, the growth years, but hopefully remember the last Willie year and the frustrating, but successful, first Strong year.  They don't know it can be done.  But it made me think how different these kids are from my kids, and other fans, who have been inundated with Bulls experience, history and knowledge for a couple decades.

So anyway, I thought, yeah, I'm a dinosaur and I remember when the program was approved, practiced for a year, played Kentucky Wesleyan and all the fun that went with massive growth.

I've never done a demographics survey but tripped over a report today.  Before I share it, it's fair to say that as the program grew, so did this site.  The site also crashed and burned due to traffic during those early years - many times.  So the data may be missing some things when we converted over to our current host.

Anyway, I saw this report and wondered, how many people that were here for the (near) beginning (mid 2000, but we really opened in 8/1999) and still check in?

I was a bit surprised that here in the dead of summer we had a pretty good group that had been around at least 20+ years BUT STILL checking in on their Bulls!  These incredible Bulls fans have been here 20+ years and checked in within the last two months:

@WoolyBully, @Bullumni, @smazza, @bullsfangw, @bullsmania, @Cubanbull, @ZeroBullChip, @E.T., @The Sheriff, @USFDan, @dabull80, @Ricky the Bull, @OrlandoBull, @T-Man, @Essency, @NJBull, @Dr.Brahma, @lotsofbull99, @10yrbull, @72bull, @Big_Hairy_Bull, @puc86, @Bulls 1, @TyBull, @CoolRod97, @Educabull, @rich.sessums, @Bull Matrix, @90Knight, @O-Bull, @bullpop, @MechanicalBull, @84Bull and @CyberBull.  All of these members here for 20+ years and probably BULLS much longer than that!

I honor these members in a special way.  We're all a little "special" being Bulls fans after the turbulent times.  It was easy to sign up to a fans' site back then, it's harder these days.  These guys have documented fandom for more than two decades, and I hope more will join that group.

You know I am nostalgic and I often think about the past and the fun and winning, and now I look back at these members and honor them for sticking with the program and TBP.

I'm thinking, pre-one of the early crashes, I may have been unbelievabull...

Anyway, I fondly recall that most of us on here actually had met, which made things much more civil and happy that we even had football.

You should be the one honored for establishing the site and sticking with it thru the good and bad times.

I agree that meeting many in person, as we did in El Paso was great. I still have the big jug of craft beer that I won at that event, sans beer of course lol.

I have a strong feeling good times are on the way very soon and we will have more jumping on the bandwagon as it normally happens.

My grandfather taught me from a young age, that struggles makes you tougher and that bad times do not last, don’t dwell on past mistakes, learn from them and move on.

Go Bulls!!!

Thank you to you all for your loyalty and support! Only a Bull for 15 years here, and registered here far shorter. Not exactly looking forward to getting older but will cherish these forums as USF continues to age like fine wine.
