Good, because last night when I was playing NCAA 2006, Jim Leavitt got offered a 7 year extension, which he gladly accepted.

Twilly,

You may not know this...but the Big East only plays 7 Conference Games per year.

The NCAA is moving to a 12 game schedule in 2006.

That means USF needs FIVE non-conf games to schedule every single YEAR.

KL

gee 8 (teams) -1 (us) equals 7 (games), I'd have never figured that out...

You're still missing the point...  It does NO benefit for USF to schedule a home and home against a non-bcs opponent.  The only time you schedule a non-BCS team  is to fill an early-home tune up game slot, and you get just about as much credit for beating a I-AA team.

It's just not a good idea to try and schedule a home-and-home series with a Non-BCS team.  It's really not a good idea to make a rivalrly with one.

Twilly although I understand where you are comming from, you also have to look at the financial aspect of the game. The game pulled in 40,000 legitimate fans to a stadium, it was our highest gate attendance game this year (beat WVU by a smidge for ACTUAL attendance).

There are not that many teams out there begging for a home and home w/ us. Most want a 2 for 1 with us.

Wrong.

West Virginia was the highest attended game this year.

I see no problem with playing UCF yearly, if it becomes a rivalry so be it. But the facts are that USF being in a BCS conference and UCF not being in one will make the talent level get wider. Will fans still consider it a rivalry and show up in numbers if you win 90% of the time?

Time will tell and i have no problem seeing where it goes in the next few years, but UCF fans are fooling themselves if they think that a good coach will make up for not being in a BCS confeence. It was the same problem CJL had going after the better recruits.

kid- So coach what Bowls can your team go to?

coach- Well son if we win our conference we will go to the Liberty Bowl

kid- the what? How about Fiesta,Orange, Sugar and Rose coach can we go there?

coach- Well son if we go 12-0 and win our championship game well probably go there.

WRONG CUBAN read...ACTUAL attendance...

WVU Acutal attendance was a lil over 39,000 UCF's was around 42,000...The WVU number was just announced attendance which is number of tickets distributed.

PS - Starting next year the team with the highest BCS ranking from CUSA, MWC, WAC, and to a much less extent MAC and SUNBELT get a BCS bid. If next years rules were in effect today TCU would get the bid, Utah wwould have gotten in last year (which they did) and Miami (OH) the year before. So there is a BCS opening for lower conference teams.

I still say Louisville is quickly becoming our biggest rival. UCF fans are trying to start a rivarly, but in terms of the outcomes and consequences of games played in recent years, USF and Louisville are far more likely to piss the hell out of each other.

P.S. Cubanbull is the MAN, don't mess with him!!
