You let me know when a university tears down it's OCS because they can use another one that is off-campus. That will be the litmus test for acceptable stadiums within a short distance from campus. As far as I know, it's never happened. Only the opposite, which is despite having stadium infrastructure nearby - universities over time have all invested in their own. And USF will be no different.

EDIT: I think SDSU might have? That might be the only case.

Pitt immediately comes to mind, maybe that is what got them into the ACC. Pretty sure our conference mates in Temple did the same. How many were you looking for?

I disagree.  Oddsmakers would say the chance has generally, if marginally, increased.

I hope you're right.  When much of the talk and speculation is of the end game being a P2, it seems unlikely we'll be among that group.

Tulane did it but realized they needed to go back to an OCS and ended up beating USC in the Cotton Bowl. So I guess Miami, Pitt, and Temple need to go back to getting their own stadiums

B12 was not really going to consider USF after Harlan’s crew made those spelling errors on the application. USF has a better chance at an ACC or PAC invite imo

He seemed to get it right at Utah  .

That was because Utah was already winning before he got there.

I Was talking about the paperwork  . He had usf trending in the right direction and the current ad let it fall to the current state.

The only thing Harlan got right while he was here was hiring Mark Kingston as baseball coach. The IPF and OCS never would have happened under his watch, and certainly not by 2026. Hiring Charlie Strong torpedoed all the positive progress made under Taggart. Bungled the MBB coach hiring his first time around with the Masiello snafu and then ending up on Antigua, who ended up fired and he hired CBG, who had the CBI win and then the wheels fell off.

All the initial facilities upgrades (Baseball/Softball stadium, Corbett Stadium, Sun Dome refurb, possibly the basketball practice facility, can't find a date on that one) all happened under Woolard's watch. The newest round of facilities upgrades and construction projects (new locker rooms, baseball and softball improvements, IPF, impending OCS) all came under Mike Kelly's watch.

Mark Harlan did nothing but hold a feasibility study, bungle the spelling on a brochure to the Big 12, and chase CWT. The man continues to defy gravity and fail upward.

Harlan gave us false hope regarding the big 12 was going to invite USF years ago. Never happened…

Yes, we will definitely not be among that group... as that will be limited to about 40-50 teams in the SEC, B1G, and a few in the ACC right now.

But it's not P2 and nothing else... There will be a Mid-2 as well.  The Big12 and the ACC will have another 40-50 teams.  USF will be in this tier.

The rest of the FBS (MWC, C-USA SBC, and the AAC) will be the remaining 40-45 teams in the third tier.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
