On the transit topic, there is a pretty huge parking lot shuttle system a mile away at Busch Gardens…wonder if it would be feasible to get them to let us use their overflow lots and shuttles on game days.

they regularly move thousands of people pretty efficiently

They're probably pretty busy on those days as well

Theoretically

That’s the thing, it has to be reliable, affordable for everyone, and have a large area of coverage.

People thought that Uber/Lyft would put less cars on the road and it actually increased the amount of cars on the road, or so I have heard.

I’m thinking they won’t have it on the agenda until early 2024.

Doubtful as the timeline for the project calls for work to begin in October. The stadium project has gotta be on their agenda for approval in the next two months for that to happen

Yeah but I have a suspicion that politics is going to make this what should be an easy process, messy.  If it was up to USF we would be seeing a shovel in the ground by OCTOBER

The USF campus can easily accommodate parking for a 35,000-seat stadium, especially with a large number of students living in walking distance.  There are 20,000 parking spaces already on campus -- Busch Gardens only has 5,000 spaces.

For comparison purposes, Raymond James stadium has 10,000 parking spaces in the formal lots. (Not counting the old Mall site, HCC, or the various private lots around the stadium).

Thus, when USF expands the stadium to 50,000 or more, parking will NEVER be an issue.

By all accounts Mama Law is in good with the big GOP types, the current chair of the BoG is a USF alum, and we've got former state House Speaker Will Weatherford pushing the project. I'm reasonably confident in saying I don't think politics is going to hurt this project.

I don't believe that to be entirely true, especially when they are still finalizing what's going to be in the Stadium.

I believe Michael Kelly's timeline had mentioned that the Spring/Summer of 2024 would be when the groundbreaking would be. I do believe that all of the maintenance area by the track is going to begin their move in October.

Can't put a shovel in the ground while Campus Recreation is using the fields for intramurals until May 2024.

Can't we make digging and hauling a cross-fit type intramural sport?

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
