The status quo set runs deep.  Some would choose a slow but sure death.

While an on-campus stadium may help boost attendance, there is no guarantee it will be enough. It would make more sense to wait until attendance starts to improve before counting on the stadium to drastically increase revenue.

Lot of people pitch Publix as the perfect stadium sponsor, I still think its Outback. They cancelled their bowl subscription because it was 8 million a year for 1 game a year. (this happened right after our stadium was announced, coincidence? probably)

We could pitch them on just paying around 3.5-4 million a year and be the first name to ever be attached to this stadium. Probably going to be shaped like a bowl so they can just call it "The Outback Bowl" and there's already the name recognition.

UCF gets under 2 million a year for their stadium, so for that price we'd also have to include letting them host a bowl game in our stadium. But again, in the same city under the same name the bowl would immediately hold some name recognition.

50% of the cost and they just make the bowl game smaller in prestige but in the same city, and get a stadium named after them year round.

just curious why would we be worth double UCF? They will have much more exposure in the Big 12.

I think Hard Rock Stadium has too much shade. It might as well be a dome lol

that stadium is fantastic. I assume you have not been. I thought at first it was a waste of money and wouldn't make a difference. I was wrong. Easily a 20 degree difference and the way it was engineered there is air flow that almost feels like AC.

Interesting.  We will have to trust our Populous overlords.

I would be ecstatic if USF does something similar. Honestly, I stay away from the noon games early in the season. Too hot and not enjoyable. (If we were winning, I may stick it out) I also have Season Tixs for the Fins and weather is not a concern at all.

She is certainly entitled to her opinion. I have heard from some of our donors who have expressed the same concerns. However, that is a very small portion of the donor base. The bottom line is that this will be a great thing for the University in the long run.

agreed. Should have been done years ago. Time to get with the times. This is not a luxury but a need. The fact we waited so long has cost us big time.

Would be interesting to see a study into the "opportunity costs of not having an on-campus stadium" (past and future) just to see those numbers.  I'm sure that has been done.  Of course, since it is based on hypotheticals, estimates, and projections, you can pretty much compute it in a way to back up whatever your agenda might be, so maybe it's not a good idea after all.

I see this OCS rendering below come up a lot. Who came up with it? I hope this is not what it will look like in the end.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
