Problem is that if we are building a stadium that we might be expanding in future, a fixed dome roof wouldn’t work. I’m fine with starting with an overhanging roof over the sideline seatings

Sorry, I was responding to threads about the Rays new stadium.  Totally don't want a dome for USF.

I wonder what they are doing about the heat which is only going to increase.  Perhaps something like Miami did to Hard Rock? Climate change is real. I have a cousin who lives on Sarasota Bay who told me he has 3-5 years or less before his house will be unlivable due to rising sea levels, increasing 7" a decade.

HMMM should I pull up the hundreds of articles from the past that said by now half of Florida would be under water by now

It seems only fitting that I should be able to sit on my boat and enjoy boat drinks while watching the Rays.

If there isnt significant shade it will be a worse fumble than the Rays building a stadium in the exact same spot that has attendance issues.

Ok I agree we need shade but ray jay really doesn’t and it works every weekend including for the Bucs. So yes it would be great but significant shade would cost significant money. I will be one of the few who won’t be crying if they don’t build it that way.

I kind of agree if the orientation is east to west and the suites/press box etc. are on the south/home side above any seating as those stands should be in the shade for most of even a noon game.  Plus the away team will be in full sun until like 7pm.  BUT I am a proponent of as much shade as possible.

We still want the “college football experience”.  Domes and roofs and crap like that…hmm sounds like some of us want to play in a pro stadium forever.

Ray jay absolutely needs it. It is a miserable experience unless you enjoy baking and sweating next 60k people.

I’m not disagreeing with you I’m just saying, you can play football without it

And it will only get worse. What's the life of the stadium supposed to be? 30 years from now it's probably going to be 115° in Tampa on game day. And it's not a "dry" heat.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
