Tragic about the Rays, but yes.  What would be more funny is if USF built their stadium in Ybor.

Because I don't know how to read building plans.  It wasn't anything like a clear cut, finished product likeocsver.jpg:

Honestly, after all the hemming and hawing about renderings, I would find it hilariously entertaining if they finally put out the renderings and the stadium looks exactly like that

Yeah I was hoping the Rays new stadium would be near Ybor so i could basically walk to the games lo. My second choice was to have it near the Fairgrounds/ HR Casino area due to that being close to I-4. Overall, I’m happy Rays are staying in Tampa Bay and not moved to Orlando.

I wish I lived in Downtown Tampa instead of Pennsylvania lol. Do you like in an apartment tower with a view?

Yeah of the cruise ships. Was hoping the stadium would be facing the cruise ships & have the kayaks waiting for home run balls lol

Have you ever been near the Fair grounds during the fair or a big concert? BRUTAL TRAFFIC.

Yes, they would have some major infrastructure upgrades needed.   Then again there are a lot more people going to the fair or a Dave Matthews concert than most Rays games.   😃

Mine too. I don't go to the games because of the Trop but because the Trop is 50 miles away and traffic makes it feel longer.

The Rays are expected to announce the completion of a deal for a new stadium in St. Petersburg, Florida, on Tuesday, according to a report by the Tampa Bay Times.

Their 30,000 seat DOMED stadium will cost $1.2 billion compared to our $340 million 35,000 seat open stadium.

We aren't a professional sports team but is it the roof that is costing an extra $860 million or are we not building to the same level of quality that is necessary for an MLB team? Besides the roof, where does the price difference come from do you think?

P.S. They should have moved the stadium to Tampa -- just my opinion.

No comparison between a MLB new-age stadium and a college stadium. particularly for a G-5 program.

Also, while I think a location nearer to Tampa would have been preferable, I think the Rays think it is a no brainer in St. Pete since they are apparently getting a commitment for funding, control the development both of the stadium but the surrounding area and get to keep the development gravy.  Also, I guess the plan is to bring the population to the stadium not the stadium to the population.

Yes I agree. What they have been showing for the renderings look amazing regarding the area surrounding the new Rays stadium. Think that was probably one of the major selling points.
