In other news Liberty Bowl is getting renovated

It's not a 350m renovation, that's all stadiums in Memph.

What the heck could this be referencing:

providing a glass encasement of the stadium

Is there room? I guess if you widen it on the west side .....  Problem is getting that approved and done in a timely manner, especially when, looking at a City of Tampa map, it's going to involve both City and County.

The problem is that the words could have very well been used correctly if the diversity and inclusive talked about was just referring to students who weren't football fans ...... but those words triggered a reaction by some who have apparently been conditioned to assume they meant something else. And, honestly, what does it matter if it did mean something else? Why give a **** what the stadium will be used for when it's not creating the on campus experience of game day football ....

I think this sums it up perfectly from all sides.

With all due respect. blah, blah, blah....

Kelly shouldn't have had to respond to something so inane (though he probably had his Diversity and Inclusion credentials at the ready), but that's what you get from non-thinking students and their supporters.

Well that was pretty rude .... time to bring out the ol' agree to disagree thingy. I've got to start getting in the right mindset to attend a certain hockey game tonight and this **** is too heavy.

Clearly not my intention, but it seems you're not grasping what I am saying.

If the concern is the desire to have a lot of students at the game, could not the concern have been stated "we need to do things that get a lot of students to the game" as opposed to stating the "importance of making the community inclusive"?

Yeah, but once you reach a certain position, you're pre-programmed to use a specific vocabulary at every opportunity. If the buffet had shrimp, crab claws, roast beef, veal, mutton and tuna, but no vegetables (bad for vegans, and only one server in that section) you'd say "Why yes, it is very inclusive, but we still have to reach out to underserved communities and enhance our diversity." You'd never say "Hey, y'all need some salad out here and more servers over there". :05-nono:

It's not JUST design:

• $14.8 million for design and preconstruction

• $3.9 million for other planning, like land surveys, geological studies and parking

• $2.3 million for design contingencies in case USF asks for something unexpected (like space for the hospitality management program, potentially)

• $850,000 for financing

Just have to get Hillsborough County and the City of Tampa (for the intersections with Fowler and Fletcher) to put it on their lists... assuming USF "donates" the additional ROW needed, that would reduce the costs considerably.

I am not following the whole "diversity drives attendance" discussion here... but using Brad's comment to make my point - going from a 65,000 seat stadium to a 35,000 seat stadium means there will only be 8,000 or so seats for students anyway.

If the team starts winning consistently, student tickets will "sell out" no problem.

They could do a grass field area like Mizzou has for the students overflow.

Are we just butt hurt about the inclusive word being thrown out? I can't figure out what yall are going on about.

If you want students at games, build a good tailgate area and give out free stuff and market around campus! They will show up, hopefully get involved with tailgating, playing games, chasing girls or vice versa.

As for having events teaching students. I don't know about that one. I guess if they get a chance to meet the players and maybe a NFL pro bowl style festivities that would be cool.
