Good size and quick.

Really missed the days when we had a defense that was relentless and suffocating...Defense really needs to be a priority over the next year I'm not that worried about the offense.

Do you think there will be a scheme change to 3 4 4 or 4 3 4 eventually with adding the hybrid de/dt/ edge rushing lb with size and talent ? I never found the 3 3 5 good for blitzing unless you got oversized safeties that are essentially linebackers playing safety.

A good look at RJ Perry. He is 330 Ibs, but solid and looks athletic at that weight. I have a GREAT feeling about our offensive line this year. 

 

 

 

Mike Loften is 315 and looks tobe in better shape as well.

I wonder when tackling drills start. If we want to improve the defense tackling has to be improved.  We let a lot of big plays happen because we could not complete the tackle and basically just stuck an arm out. WARDADDY and Orlando have to teach these guys to wrap them , pull them down, and use your upper and lower body strength to take them . I like that the dc js showing them how to finish the drive with their rears and push instead of just running  and pushing with their arms. Hopefully they is a lot more in depth coaching on basic x and o defense techniques like tackling, coverage, and getting through or around a block. We really lacked the nastiness and technique over the last 4 years.

What they are practicing in that clip is what we need a lot of. Accumulating turnovers can help alleviate the pain of getting run or thrown on all day.

The link about shows orlando making the linebackers do it over because they were just running and pushing  the linemen sled instead of pushing and drive with their rears/leg muscles. Little things like that take a below average player/defense and build them up. I agree turnovers help but we got to have all the x and o coached up to win and improve this bottom of the barrell defense.

It kind if makes me think the last coaching  staff did not teach the defense much of anything like techniques to tackle or get by a block.
