While I agree with you that Ray Jay is not in a crap location for some people; relative to being on campus it is. For freshman and sophomores living on campus, the ease of traveling to a game across campus is much easier. This helps a lot when your team goes through struggles, it’s no longer a burden to go to games for students.

Just a note -- I am a grad student here in Raleigh... Carter-Finley stadium is 3 miles away from the primary NC State campus and and students take buses from campus to the stadium area.  Doesn't affect student participation in the games.

Students can apply for single-game parking passes if they want to drive over, but they are not free... and parking is more spread out than at RayJay.

Oh, and not all students can get tickets to games.  They are awarded - game by game - via lottery.  I tried for a few games last year, and didn't get picked for any of them.

I am not saying you're wrong... just saying that other schools don't seem to have the same problem.

Yeah, I mean, maybe it’s just the images, but those look terrible and doesn’t look like a Stadium at all

That is the new style. It'd basically like this, without the endline seats.

New D.C. United stadium to be called Audi Field | Goal.com India

I hope not. I would like my stadium to look like a Stadium.

3 miles or 12 miles through city traffic and malfunction junction is quite a disparity.  The oldest daughter had to pay an additional 400 dollars a year for a sports pass and they regularly put over 100k in the stadium, that is about as comparable as apples to oranges with our situation. There are other schools that may not have the problem but if you think playing in the cavernous Ray Jay is our long term solution then you are out to lunch.

Tossing this out there in case it hasn’t been posted yet.  Looks like it won’t let me attach them all so I’ll do a couple posts. Hope that’s ok (Jk it won’t let me attach the others since they’re too big on their own)

It doesn't look bad architecturally speaking( I think I just might have made up a word); but it just looks rather small. Perhaps its just the angle. The fact that it doesn't look like any other stadium and that it looks rather unique is probably a good thing, since you have a lot of copycats around.  Really we only get one shot at this so its important for them to get it right. In the end it has to look like something that could be in place in a power 5 conference.

Yeah, that image is Audi Field for the MLS’ DC United, it holds 20k. It has a bit of an awkward structure due to the height restriction of the area and it is squeezed in between streets on a peninsula (they were lucky to get a spot). In terms of an intimate and modern feel, people like it. It’s not my cup of tea, but it’s all subjective. I I would rather have a horseshoe with suites on one side and a second deck in the other.

This was meant for the one above it, I responded to the wrong one, haha.

Actually, check Google maps on gameday to go about 3 miles to the NC State stadium. As long or longer than it takes to get from campus to RayJay.

It's 3 miles off stadium .... on their land and it's their stadium.  It also probably helps that they've been playing football since 1892 ..... apples to oranges

We should just build the horseshoe of the south and call it a day. I am not a fan of the renderings that were posted above, it looks like a European soccer stadium

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
