But I do agree that the athletic department put a lot of pressure on themselves to make a "splash" hire with some of the tweets and correspondence that has gone out

We don't truly know DS' motivations

A real problem when entering negotiations, too.

1. The win will be whether we start winning games and grow the program not whether we hire Deion or not.

Ok, then we clearly shouldn't have burned so much time and credibility on DS.  But, I do believe the topic wasn't the long game of one day winning, but about the DS situation and how that reflects on us.

2. Sounds like lowered expectations ......

Basement level.

I feel like we're looking right in the eyes of another Groundhog Day.  DS passing on USF clears the way to hire another experiment and burn the next two or three years.

We'll see.

Good news is that whoever we hire next will seem like an upgrade from what we had the past 6 seasons lol. So when I look at it that way things seem positive lol

Did Colorado raise their initial offer, or did they outbid USF with the first one?

But wouldn't anyone beside DS fall into that category ultimately.  The only reason DS might not fall into that is because of his persona and what he's going to bring to the table in terms of exposure and credibility.  But even that isn't a guarantee to get us to where we want to go

I know you want Leavitt and I would like that too, but there's not guarantee that is going to work out either
