The way I feel about this one is summed up like this: The teacher said, "ok, class we're going to pair up for the assignme..." and before she even finished speaking, I already said, "I call Deion". The other kids in the room said, "But I wanted Deion as my partner...". Even the cute girls said, "Deion, wanna be my partner? " and I said, "Nope, sorry, he's my partner." I go around telling everyone Deion is mine so I'm not interested in being their partner, even to the smart kids...I promised cool, hip Deion I would do the entire assignment so he said he would be our partner. BUT! When the teacher finally stopped talking and she said, okay, go find a buddy, is Deion standing next to me or did he go and pair up with one of the cute girls? I think Deion is my partner because we made a B-line for him at the start and called him, but did I get stuck with the smelly kid who is sitting in the corner by himself picking his nose? We all need to end up with a partner, who did I get?

Yeah, but do you really get passed over for FAU by Tom Herman this late in the new coach hires unless you're already like, "We're good over here, Tom, why don't you go and see if FAU wants to give you a job"?

 

I could definitely be wrong, but I think we're still a better job than FAU. If we aren't, wow.

Theoretically, that makes sense. But if something hasn't been signed there are no guarantees. We've heard a mixture of tons of scenarios from 'sources' so who knows?

I’m choosing to be in the group that believes USF isn’t tweeting about a coach without a contract already being signed and it’s just courtesy that it hasn’t been announced. If USF weren’t landing Deion, it would’ve been prudent a couple days ago to leak into that it wasn’t him at the very least.

Yes. I think if you want to signal to other available coaches that you still very much have a vacancy and are open to anyone, you need to clear the air of Deion having your attention. Put out a release that you're no longer in talks with him.

Is there any chance that the sticking point for Deion wanting more control over the program was that he wanted final say for his choice of assistants, namely for his choice for DC (CJL)?

I don't disagree, but... colorado... wouldn't they be doing the same thing if Prime was coming here?
