My guess is NIL money from the p5 is much bigger than SMU NIL money. Also Fickell is  great coach to play for. HE has put some players in the pros the last few years and will be producing even more at Whisky.

Whatever. Loyalty be damned. SMU gave him a chance to be a starter and put up big numbers when he wasn’t at his previous P5.

eventually it will evolve to something we’re you sign a scholarship for four years and if you transfer it will have to be a buy out. Similar to a coaches contract. This is still evolving, so I think scholarships will change to more of a money contract.

That's how the NILs are going to have to work eventually. Watch some booster drop big bucks for a player only to watch them leave. The collectives are going to have to start baking something like this into their structure.

Wouldn't surprise me to see some type cottage industry pop up where the boosters can get insurance on the money invested in a player if he leaves, or even gets injured ......... if there's a buck to be made.

Agree.  And as soon as you enter the portal, you have to "buy out" the rest of your scholarship.  If you end up staying with the same team you need to renegotiate your scholarship.

It still irks me that we continue to educate, house and feed kids who have entered the portal indicating they don't want to be here.
