You lost me at a "tail between her legs". Are we sure it was a tail?

Hard pass on literally any former coach returning, including (and especially) xCWT. He seemed to hate everything about USF while he was here and took off at the first opportunity he could on the backs of Flowers and Mack. Now that he has been humbled, he can kindly go pound sand. Or coach FCS somewhere.

Xcwt was all about xcwt and made millions off the backs of Mack and Flowers…so I have no desire to see him come back.

Aside from Nick Saban, who constantly repeats greatness??? Who doesn't benefit from out talenting their competitors? Isn't that literally what football is?

XCWT zigged when he should've zagged. He's no worse off for it financially. He did what he said he'd do for us. He coached guys up and put them in positions to be successful.

Left Oregon too soon. Didn't have nearly enough time or leeway at FSU and now his reputation is tinged. He knows his X's and O's, just can't recruit like he once did probably due to his reputation being damaged from lack of commitment.

The Coaching Spillover Effect

-- Remember when Leavitt was fired after an 8-5 season and Skippy Boy took his leftovers and went 8-5 in 2010 with wins over Louisville, Miami, and Clemson?

-- Then he beat ND in game 1 of 2011 but finished 5-7...a decline as the season went on (shows he didn't maintain previously held team standards of practice).

-- In 2012, it's safe to say it was completely Skip's team, he finished at the bottom of the conference at 3-9.. this proves that he wasn't The Guy and his only success was because of Leavitt's players and teaching. Bring in new Coach Willie Taggart in 2013 with Skippy's poor 3-9 leftovers..

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
-- We're a mess of a program under Skip's system throughout the season and finally bottom out as a program with only 2 wins in 2013 in CWT's 1st season.

-- In 2014, it's Willie's turn to build his team after having the team for the off-season, 2014 results in a 100% improvement in 4 wins (2 on the road). This still isn't good enough. But is he a coach or not?

-- Year 3 in 2015, another 100% increase, this time to 8 wins, a win over #21 Temple, win over UCF, and a bowl game against a ranked WKY (loss). Clearly things are getting better, he's changing the previous broken system. This is coaching.

-- That's good enough for another shot, year 4, increases wins again to finish 11-2 with wins over Syracuse on the road, #22 Navy, UCF, and a bowl victory over South Carolina. We finish the season ranked for the first time in school history. If he stays with USF and continues this type of program, he continues recruiting his kind of guys, running his Gulf Coast Offense...However, money got involved. I understand where this is how CWT loses USF fans. He took the money and ran. No loyalty. Welcome to coaching in the modern college era. It sucks but you would do the same "for your family". I don't fault him, he left USF football in good shape. He built up a system. I couldn't imagine a future coach wanting to tinker with it...

We finished the CWT era on a 17 game streak of 30+ PPG, which was 43.8 PPG in 2016. But again, like after the Leavitt era, there will be a spill over into Charlie Strong's first season using CWT's team. This 30+ PPG streak would continue for another 7 games into Coach Strong's first season for a streak of exciting offensive football for 24 games that we all loved to watch. We even got a little cocky at this point.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2017 -- starts off 7-0, finished 10-2 <--- this is because of Willie Taggart's team, not Charlie Strong making coaching decisions.

2018 -- starts off 7-0 again, but finishes on a 6 game losing streak, the Charlie Strong era has begun.

2019 -- 4-9, the CWT effect is most definitely gone. This is clearly CCS's team and he's NOT The Guy. He's got to go. Had he gotten another season with the team, I envision another 3-4 win season, not an improvement as the momentum was negative.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2020 - 2022 -- Starting off with a poor spillover this time, unlike the spillover from CWT. If Jeff Scott is The Guy, he can turn this around...but nope, we all know how the past 3 seasons went, he began in a hole, was not a good coach, and made no advancements. The spillover effect is real, it lasts about 2-2.5 seasons.. Any coach can ride the coattails for a short time but reality will set in and he will be tested. If the new coach is a good coach, he can maintain the progression, but if he's not a good coach, he will most definitely lose and be canned. The new head coach for USF needs to be more than just an X's and O's guy to pull us from this dumpster fire of a spillover this time. He needs to shake the earth to turn things around quickly or it will probably take 4-5+ seasons to have a season of 10 wins. A coach that brings electricity and swag and attention like Deion Sanders, can cut that time drastically as he can attract very high quality players immediately upon his signing.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Potential Future of Coach Prime -- He immediately brings in some of the biggest signings (on paper) USF has ever had and changes the team immediately.. the POTENTIAL exists like never before, but it is at that time when he will be tested to actually win with those players in his system. Some coaches can slowly build up the team over 4-5 seasons and would be permitted to do so if they can show real progress each season like CWT (ex: 2 wins, 4 wins, 8 wins, 11 wins)...that's how you stay employed and build the team up. I imagine a Coach Prime first season is a 7+ win season. But do we get a season 2, a season 3, to see if he repeats or improves? That remains to be seen. Whoever we hire, will need to show improvement from season 1 to season 2, or we all know where this is going...stagnation and fanbase deflation.

So does everyone but that doesn’t mean that he is capable of ever repeating that class and that season and a half of success because he hasn’t seemed able to do it any other opportunity

never said I want him back

fact is he inherited a 3-9 team with Matt Floyd as QB and left us at 11-2, ranked in the top 20 and with Flowers at QB.

I can appreciate what he did for us.
