Maybe the hold up is that USF thought the Broncos would have fired Nathaniel Hackett by this time of day, freeing them up to make the formal offer?

Interview:  With the game on the line trying to secure a huge upset, do you run the ball up the middle 3 times and give them the ball back so they can have a chance to win and run out the clock?

And almost 5 minutes left on the clock with the other team having two timeouts remaining...

We were play calling to give the game away instead of go for the first down or kill shot. The play calling should have been a trick play that we have been saving all season for the biggest moment of the season. Instead  we called a conservative run up the middle with a  offense line that does not  push the defensive line back a few yards  every play. Call me whatever you want but it is like we wanted to give the game away.  Just like every moment in the last three years we gave it away with bad coaching by not going for the win and playing conservative  not to lose football. The irony is we did a lot of losing with that approach.

Someone mentioned Manny Diaz and it wouldn’t surprise me. Good defensive background, connected to Florida recruiting, could keep Trickett on board

Has there been any connection? I actually wouldn't hate this hire. He didn't pan out at Miami, but he wasn't terrible, did better than his replacement this year. He also built an amazing defense there when he was DC. A job with a little less expectation could be OK for him and a good place to rebuild his resume.
