Most of the locals around us at that game ended up rolling down the stands in alcohol fueled fights.  LOL

I can believe it.

but will focus on how absurd to compare a 10 year old program with 2 programs which are older than dirt and have been dominating since dirt was invented.

Also not to mention that the whole infrastructure of CFB is to prop up and make sure they continue to win to get more ad revenue.  I wonder what it would take for TCU to get noticed by the playoff committee or get the same concessions that UT and OU would?

Same.  My brother in law busted up a fight that landed in his lap.  Put them both in headlocks, releasing one early.  He was on steroids himself and able to play peacemaker.  What a crappy place that was.

But even with all that entertianment, I'm saddened that hightechbowl traveled all that way and didn't get a meaningless bowl win.

Were you able to discern what their rooting interests were?  I mean, the local team is UTEP and they really have no room to criticize.

It was Tecate.

Yeah like get blown out by Oregon in the Sun Bowl.   Nothing better than traveling to El Paso and listening to the locals loudly mock your team after the 1st quarter.

remind me of that CWT bowl success....

One of the memories that stays with me from that trip was when I met our own Mike G the night before the game at one of the events and proceeded to tell me he didn't like me.  First time we met and I was a bit taken aback.  Amazing what the internet can do in forming opinions.

Despite the game's outcome, we actually had a lot of fun on that trip.  The locals that weren't smashed and fighting were super nice and grateful that we were there spending $$$.  Thankfully, despite our taxi driver's urging, we didn't end up in Juarez on NYE or we might have had a different outlook on the trip.  If I recall correctly, didn't you put on a Bullspen gathering prior to that game?

The more I think about it, the more I'd like to see him back in some capacity, perhaps not the head coach. It would be cathartic for the program and help put the past behind.

We really need some advocacy, someone who can sell the heart of what USF football could be. At it's core, that's what CJL could do and what made the program so exciting back then.

Have we had anyone with that visionary approach for the program since he left and Lee Roy Selmon died?

Actually, it was a few of the members here that put it on...we did the first one in Charlotte, but the El Paso was crazy great!  I think we had Judy and Dougie stop in.  Had gifts, food, it was awesome.

I hate to name names and leave someoen out, but I remember @BullyPulpit was one of the leads, but there were more.
