Searching for Simmons stuff I found this, he has dropped FAMU to the lowest APR in D1 and sounds like he’s constantly looking to leave. This concern anyone?

So they're upset because he is interested in finding a better job .... oh the horror.  Guess what, just about any coach worth a **** is going to arrive here hoping to get a better job eventually

Exactly why continuity of a system is more important than a big name coach. First, we need a system again. The GCO was primed for it.

I don't think that should be a problem here but this certainly could be ......

Since Simmons' arrival at FAMU in December 2017, his football team has been better on the field, however their Academic Progress Rate has consistently been lower than the NCAA requirement of 930.  In 2018-19, FAMU football's APR was 925 , this year 2020-21 it fell to 868, and the multi-year average was the lowest was the lowest in Division 1.

..... although I assume we've got better sources in place to avoid that but you need to have your hc on board with that part.

Probably  has some kids that got by with doing nothing with e-school and virtual learning  their last few years of high school. The  grade school kids k-12 are really behind because of virtual school.

Then there is this about USF in 2009

The University of South Florida had the worst APR in the nation among BCS schools, according to the report published by the NCAA yesterday. The football program had...

And then people wonder about the academic standards put on Skip when he was hired.

Again

he isn’t dominating. They avg 25 pts a gAme and give up 24

His offense nor defense is a dynamic style of plat. He excels in neither.

this would be a horrible hire with options available

1. Herman (i wasn’t high on this but he has won everywhere and was under a proven winner as mentor.

2. frost-from a pure dynamic standpoint he fits what we want to be. High powered offense who scores in under a minute. What he could do again with florida athletes leads your imagination to want him to have redemption from the pressure he was under back home.

3. jamey chadwell- the up and comer. Three  10 win seasons. Explosive offense.

it’s these three or bust in my opinion. Hopefully a new name sparks us but for me there is no other options besides these three.

gruden or leavitt is just old folks wishing this were the glory days.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
