Can you imagine Gruden trying to recruit high school kids? 😂  We would be living off the transfer portal.  He has no patience to develop talent.  He just wants established experienced players that can run spider Y 2 banana.   Please USF don’t do this.

Yup. Even aside from the baggage Gruden was famous for having a system that took years to learn for young QBs. And that was young QB's who were the best of the best in college. I can't imagine how frustrated he'd be trying to install a playbook with  bunch of 18-21 year old kids

They're all kind of intriguing in a way but I don't see any of them pushing any needles, in a positive way, to the bulk of rational Bulls fans ...

I'm not really a fan of any of those names, but wins is what will push the needle and wins alone

he went from making $1.5m per year to $3+m per year. nobody passes that up.

we actually got paid by oregon when he left

I'll take that over paying someone not to coach here

It isn't a judgment about your guy Willie, it's an indictment of the idea Deion will come to USF because we are closest to his hometown.  Hometown means nothing to most...everything to one, now that I think about it.

We wasted a year and more money because he was extended instead of let go after last season. Now onto the next guy who has to dig usf further out of the trenches of fbs football.

Still haven't moved on?   Wasn't he under contract when he was extended?

If Gruden's baggage can even be considered this day in age, NO one can tell me that Leavitt is untouchable because of his "baggage".

By the way, not sure why this thread is still going. Only 1 answer, bring Jim Leavitt home.

neither is appealing

I think that will happen over just about anyone we hire

To state that only his image damage prevented him from getting HC jobs over the last 13 years is just as laughable. It is college football. If you can make a team win many things get looked over.

Glad you're getting a good laugh.  Has Mangino returned to an HC role?

Alabama must have been wrong in offering Leavitt?  Taking the incident and turning it into a choke and slap does a lot of damage and then add more about the "most powerful man in the building" that would scare people off.

We'll see if anyone hires Gruden, then we'll know, at least for those institutions, your theory is true.  Not true at the vast majority.
