If I run out of gas I will gladly walk past Wawa. I'll never spend a cent there.

Why is that?

For me, it reminds me of Philadelphia and the ingrained disdain for everything associated with that city, outside of our American history ,,,,

It was a staple for me when I lived in Maryland. Seems like the Tastykakes selection up there is much larger than way down here in Tampa. Great! Now I want some butterscotch krimpets and Utz chips... 😜

Have you lived up there?  Other than the sports fans what generates that hate? I lived up there between NYC and Phila most of my live and, personally, found Philly much more friendly, easy to get around, great museums, etc.  Kind of like a NYC lite. Would get a headache every time I went to NY after a few hours. Always stressed, looking over my shoulder. Didn't feel that in Phila. My dad was from NYC and my brother was born there and we visited family and friends on a fairly regular basis and just never was comfortable.  Only PHL team I followed as a kid were the Sixers. Baseball, hockey and football were NY (or former NY) teams (Giants, Giants, Rangers). Then when the Flyers came to be I started following them.

Know you can't change people's minds about a city but friends of ours had to go up for a wedding. Original New Yorkers. They had no desire to go. Pointed them to some places and they came back impressed.

All this said, I've not lived up there for 20 years now so can't speak to the current situation although our friends took their trip about 5 - 7 years ago.

That.  Drove through to the downtown area for work.  On the way in felt the risk of being a victim of random gunfire was a real possiblity (as I was in Maryland).

Forget Wawa now, I don't think Waste Management would want to be associated with us.

Love Bucees too. But none here in our area. And , FWIW, don't go to WaWa much.
