I think you are both right. The offense stopped driving the ball and our running game really went out the window after GB got hurt.

We can always use better players but this thread is specifically about one game and one of the biggest factors on the defensive side of the ball last night was that we were missing 2 of our top 3 tackle leaders plus Joiner ......

We don't have a deep bench, in most cases there's a big drop off from starter to their back-up, and a lot of second and third string players are seeing the field.

We are talking about number of plays for the defense? I mean get off the field if you want to see fewer plays. THe defense was as much as fault maybe even more for the lopsided number of plays they faced.  They have been terrible. Woody terrible giving up 30 points a game.  Just checkd the numbers and we are giving up 37.5 points per game. Worst defense in USF history and we have had some doozies.

Of course it was primarily their fault for not getting off the field this game but the fact that the offense only ran 13 plays the first half contributed. The point being made, for this game, is when your defense has already been struggling most of the year and you lose key contributors, it shouldn't be a huge surprise. The fact that the D did have some noteworthy moments is hopefully encouraging going forward, with those backups gaining experience.

I guess their offense was spent?  Strategy: wear down opponent's offense by giving up multiple plays in terms of volume and length.
