I just listened to the press conference.  I think Jeff Scott is frustrated. There is no value in expressing the amount of turnover at USF; 3 presidents, 3 ADs, 4 coaches, numerous coordinators . For the record there are other coaches at USF who have been consistent through 3 presidents and 3 ADs.   I believe USF should have more to keep Willie Taggart at USF. Willie did not have the budget to keep defensive coordinators but he figured out a way to win and never focused on what was not there or what happened in the past.  I am disappointed in the statements that were made today it did not exemplify the type of leadership that I would expect.

One man is responsible for the failure since 2020. He has more investment in the football program IPF and OCS then all the other coaches had. EXCUSES are useless. I wonder how many more the people that follow him blindly or he can come up with. Put up or shut up. We suck until we don't .

Hear it here, hopefully.

Just clicked on the link, and they have the radio call of the USF-WKU Bowl game from 2015. Strange.

It wasn’t an excuse, it was to help some understand the nature of football at USF. You should listen.

Press conference was pathetic. Dont want to excuses but it’s all excuses. He said we have 12 years of bad program. That is not true.  Our 10/11 win season were after what building a program looks like. There has been no progress on the field and that is how you are judged. Listening to press conference im just not confident. Fluffing schedule and being 3-2 isn’t the point. We were getting blown out by ecu. The most evenly matched game was against howard.

Seriously??

Mark Harlan was going to give Coach Taggart another raise after the 2016 season. I believe it would have made him the highest paid Coach in the AAC at that time.

Willie was leaving before he got an offer.

Jeff Scott did make excuses.  But were they true excuses or false excuses.  In other words, was what he was saying true.  Let's examine.

He said we have had a lot of injuries - True.  He said 11 potential starters were out.  Not sure it was quite 11 but several key guys were out.

He said we've played a tough schedule - True

He said essentially that if we had played cupcakes that we'd be 3-2.  Possibly true, possibly false.  We don't really know, but we would likely be better than 1-4.  So that one is probably partially true also.  He also said that if we had played an easier schedule, everyone would be saying team was better and had turned corner.  Actually, this is probably true also.  People judge you on wins and losses, even if you're playing nobodies to get wins.  I personally would rather play the tough schedule, but I got his point.

He then listed the number of coaches, AD's, and presidents.  All true.

He made excuses but nothing he said was factually incorrect.  Some times thing just are the way they are, and USF has burned through a lot of coaches and hasn't invested in the program or facilities.  True.

All the excuses in the world won't help if he doesn't win and win fast, but most of what he said was probably true.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
