So we shouldn’t be surprised because we were heavy underdogs in those games.  But Coach, why are we still heavy underdogs?!

We are heavy under  dogs any game he is coaching.  How do we fix that other than firing him I have no idea. Is there a magic pill a coach can take to drastically  improve overnight or marginally improve per game ?

Exactly, we will continue to be underdogs until we are not.

That was the most heated CJS press conference to date.

"What is the truth about this team?"

"Well I've already answered that but allow me to rephrase it for you"

Look he made some valid points particularly about how inconsistent our Athletics vision and personnel have been over the past 12 years. To his credit he was very transparent that he knew and still knows this was not a 2 year turnaround job. We need a solid foundation and he wants to build that - whether he can or will is, in my view left to be determined. If you read between the lines he is saying what VPMK won't- he is here to build a sustainable foundation and his job is not at risk.

The injuries and OOC SOS are also fair points. 0-5 Colorado had the #1 TOUGHEST SOS in the country. You can't say with a straight face some of any chunk of a season's record has nothing to do with the stretch of teams you play. 11 starters out too is a factor.

The 2nd good point he made is that we haven't quit. Coming out down 41 to 7 in someone else's stadium at half being 1-4, you might expect to see quitting. But we come out and score on 3 of the next 4 drives and keep them to one score - makes it a little harder to say the team has given up.

With all that being said, the product not improving is just the ultimate arbiter at the end of the day. Results are scant. Coaching mistakes abound. Flat performance plagues our first half.

My bottom line? Buckle up. This is the bus were on. The best we can hope for is that he is right. That results are the last to come. And that maybe they come if we can find 3+ wins in our last 5 games of the season, as that's where the winnable games are.

I would argue quitting is the absolute best thing he could do for this program so I can’t put that in the win column. He can’t quit because if he does he doesn’t get paid out, that isn’t heroic. He actually said he shows up is a positive ,amazingly I thought most people that have jobs show up to them.

Just reading the comments here, I’m so glad I didn’t listen.  At this point, there’s really not anything he can say to make the situation better.  Just like I thought, at this point him and MK are married and MK will double down rather than admitting failure which means he’s here at the least through 2023.   MK is very well liked and I’m sure he has the buy in from Law and the BOT on his vision.

It’s a long dark road ahead Bulls fans.

How can you lose to ECU and then say if your schedule is a little easier you would be sitting at 3-2? I would love a follow up question of who exactly are the 3 teams he believes he could beat

If we played Howard 5 times, I think we could go 3-2.

I think looking at the schedule, most saw maybe 3-4 realistic wins without knowing how much ECU, Tulsa, Tulane, Temple and SMU improved.  Somewhere along the way, that turned into 6 wins and a bowl game or bust for some. There's no magical pill.  He's here to stay.  We'll know if the team is still with him at the end of the season if Horn and any other talented players don't transfer.

I think he meant if we had scheduled 3 cupcakes at the beginning of the season.  These schedules were made years ago, during the Flowers era when we were competitive and didn't know we'd be in a rebuild.

He said repeatedly that he knows he is doing the right thing because he is doing what he saw work at Clemson, we are not Clemson and copying the carbon copy of that model is not likely to work out. You need to be agile and pivot and figure out what works in the situation you are actually in and not the idealized place you wish you were in.

I believe this is his biggest flaw.  He followed the Clemson playbook and it’s not working and he doesn’t have a clue as to what to do now.  Fowler Ave is about as far removed from Clemson as two college programs can be.  He keeps thinking…it worked at Clemson why won’t it work here.

Maybe would should practice in Clemson uniforms…maybe that will help 😀

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
