At least I got to learn the odd bit of trivia that every game vs UCF on a Saturday we won and every black Friday we have lost.

We rolled them on Thanksgiving so we should have opted for that day.

It stinks listening to CJS press conferences because he's so well-spoken (when he isn't mentioning Clemson) and always says the right things. Wish it would all click.

I think we definitely cover the 27.5+ just listening to him, but then again, I wouldn't be surprised if we were down 28 just at the half.

I would be surprised if we were not down 28 plus at half, that is our MO.

I feel we are listening to two different press conferences, to me everything he says leads to the expected results he produces.

So we shouldn’t be surprised because we were heavy underdogs in those games.  But Coach, why are we still heavy underdogs?!

I don't know, at least he answers questions coherently, unlike Strong.

Has he at least admitted he’s in over his head?

Yea. I am going to agree with you on this. “If our schedule was easier”, “we’re underdogs by 15 points”, “the 2 hour rain delay against BYU”. BYU went through the same exact rain delay we did.

From some of his other comments, about the report card at the end of the year, seems like he is here to stay for the rest of the season.

There is nothing coherent about his answers and two simple questions that would point out the insanity of the whole thing would be 1) you say that you don't make excuses but then rattle off all the things that could be used as excuses, what is the point of that if not to make excuses. 2) You just said the regime changes have set the program back and if you stick with it you can maybe get lucky and someone will just miracle themselves to winning. With that logic did VPMK make a mistake and set the program back by firing CCS and hiring you?

He said that he has checked everything and they are doing everything right, like making sure they are having the right meals before the game but then said that they come out and arent prepped and not coaching well in the first half (how exactly can you be doing everything right if that is the results of it and who exactly was worried about pregame meals? )

You just got the brakes beat off of you by ECU who exactly do you think could have been scheduled that leads to the 3 wins you just imagined in your head?

He said repeatedly that he knows he is doing the right thing because he is doing what he saw work at Clemson, we are not Clemson and copying the carbon copy of that model is not likely to work out. You need to be agile and pivot and figure out what works in the situation you are actually in and not the idealized place you wish you were in.

That was the most heated CJS press conference to date.

"What is the truth about this team?"

"Well I've already answered that but allow me to rephrase it for you"

Look he made some valid points particularly about how inconsistent our Athletics vision and personnel have been over the past 12 years. To his credit he was very transparent that he knew and still knows this was not a 2 year turnaround job. We need a solid foundation and he wants to build that - whether he can or will is, in my view left to be determined. If you read between the lines he is saying what VPMK won't- he is here to build a sustainable foundation and his job is not at risk.

The injuries and OOC SOS are also fair points. 0-5 Colorado had the #1 TOUGHEST SOS in the country. You can't say with a straight face some of any chunk of a season's record has nothing to do with the stretch of teams you play. 11 starters out too is a factor.

The 2nd good point he made is that we haven't quit. Coming out down 41 to 7 in someone else's stadium at half being 1-4, you might expect to see quitting. But we come out and score on 3 of the next 4 drives and keep them to one score - makes it a little harder to say the team has given up.

With all that being said, the product not improving is just the ultimate arbiter at the end of the day. Results are scant. Coaching mistakes abound. Flat performance plagues our first half.

My bottom line? Buckle up. This is the bus were on. The best we can hope for is that he is right. That results are the last to come. And that maybe they come if we can find 3+ wins in our last 5 games of the season, as that's where the winnable games are.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
