Give it time bro, Tampa historically is ass when it comes to pro sports.  I will be rooting for the Bolts tonite but once Brady goes the Bucs will be the Bucs and the Rays following is pitiful.  Tampa is small potatoes and are simply on a crazy hot streak that will end sooner rather then later.

Currently Tampa is the, if not one of the fastest growing cities in Florida. I from Miami and have no real connection 2 the city so Im not biased. In terms of real estate I read somewhere that its one of the hottest markets in Florida.

The only two teams that are at least “somewhat” acceptable to me are UAB (I like their comeback story coupled with our basketball history together) and Rice (Top 20 university in the nation on academic quality and have a long football tradition…although over the last 20 years it’s been mostly bad).

Meh. We just need to win this reconstituted conference many times over in all sports. Get it in gear, and just go!

There is absolutely zero chance that we would get 40k people to watch our 100th consecutive win against the new aac as that’s almost the entire lower bowl. Tampa and most cities love winners but only if they think you are winning something of consequence and beating teams they have never heard of just isn’t it. Do the rowdies or mutiny or whatever they are called get an influx of fans if they win? How about the Tarpons? The floor for a game against the new aac would be measured in the low thousands but the ceiling is going to be at most 20k, our conference is now made up of teams that have a draw of a season opener and winning isn’t going to be able to shine that turd.

“Removing the outlier that is the Sept. 11 Florida game, a contest that pulled in over 54,000 fans, the average dips to approximately 18,185 fans per game. Raymond James Stadium can hold between 65,000-75,000 people, and USF, on average, has hardly been able to fill even a third of that in recent years.

The issue may not even be as simple as just winning, though. The Bulls played seven home games in 2016, a season in which former quarterback Quinton Flowers led them to an 11-2 record and a Birmingham Bowl victory, and in those games the average number of fans in the seats was 25,596.

Just like when removing the Florida game from 2021, however, the outlier in this season significantly shifts the numbers. USF hosted Florida State in 2016 and 48,724 fans were in attendance. By removing that game, the average attendance for the other six contests was 19,586, marginally higher than the 2019 and 2021 combined average.”

It’s no secret fan attendance at home football games has become an issue for USF in...

The only way to win the aac is the same as it’s always been to get the **** out of it. There is no way anyone honestly believes that winning is going to make people care about a lesser version of a conference they already thought was minor league.

If Tampa liked winners the Rays would sell out. Florida has wishy washy fans.

Pro sports town and the school is minor league even for college sports. The only way people pay attention will be if they beat legit teams, not the AAC. We already saw how it worked in mid 2000s. They need to make waves.

They need to be good enough to beat teams that the FSU, UF and UM will notice bc that is who lives in Tampa. That is bc USF can't cultivate a fan base. Also, playing decent teams from up north would help with attendance bc of the covid migration.

I would argue that if Taggart had stayed USF would have had tremendous success... but his ego and greed got in the way.

Greed? Sounds like you think he was meant to stay at this level or coaching? He left for a better opportunity and then his dream job. Not all people want to be complacent!

high level programs find great coaches who stick around. We fired ours.

I get that. I quite likely would have done the same thing... but he did take what seemed like the very first P5 offer to come along.  It seemed like he didn't feel like he could have increased his stock by sticking around another season or two.  Kinda like a 3rd-year sophomore who declares for the draft and gets picked in the fourth round... but could have been a first rounder if he stayed.

Imagine if he never went to Oregon... he stays just one more year... USF likely wins the AAC and gets to a NY6 bowl... FSU would have called.... Strong would not have come here... USF's past six seasons would have been different... perhaps even dramatically different.
