Brad..FYI: I've been posting here only for about 3 months. The biggest problem you're going to have in getting new guys to stick around on this board is people like USFMikeB, who seem to have made it their personal mission to humiliate "stupid newbies" (apparently like myself).  

Instead of helping and encouraging new USF fans, there seems to be a large amount of hostility towards newcomers who didn't spend 2 years researching the history of USF athletics. I have never seen a more internally hostile message board in my life.

So many potential fans run off by just a few jerks.  Sad. :-[

Your question is valid.  As far as a UCF fan can tell, Ponton may be good but he is definitely NOT Hall.  There is some drop off there.

The QB position is not looking good right now.  Will Grothe come in and wow everyone?  For your sake I hope so.  But I have to wonder if he is THAT great or not.  If he is showing signs, why not give him a chance THIS year?  Just an observation.

If Nicholas leaves, that too will be a huge loss although you do have some good LBs.  None of them are at Nicholas' caliber at this point in time however.

All in all, I think you guys will be OK and I look forward to our game with you at the CB next year.

I feel very good about next year. Bulk of this team are FR & SO. The current Top 4 tacklers are returning on Defense.

QB

We'll have the same guys. PJ, C4, GrothE, Gregory, & Servino. Hopefully PJ improves as with the other guys ... still unproven. Hopefully, somebody excels in the Spring.

RB

Ponton & Simpson are a strong "proven" combo. I am hoping Denson will move here instead of WR where he'll get more touches. And Wilson from UNC may be coming.

WR

Everyone is back!  ;D

TE

Lose Carter & Ruegger(who played more of a FB role). Bleakley will keep us at the same level. This position is rarely used except as an extra Tackle. Younger guys have size, we'll see who jumps to the #2 & #3 spot.

OL

Lose our interior. Miller at C and Davis & Carothers are Guard. Capogna will replace at Center. Huners & Griffin will replace the Guard spots. They've had quite a few snaps each and got some valuable experience. Will see who developes into Back-Ups. 2 Deep at Tackle return.

DL

DANG ! We lose our DE's; Simmons, Royals, Allen. Lose Jones at DT. Some serious talent graduates. Replacements look good. Julmiste, Robinson & Buie at DE. A lot of depth back at DT; Thomas, Cray, Clebert &  George.

LB

Everyone is back ! And the Back-Ups got lots of plays. The 2 Deep here is very strong.

DB

Lose 2 productive guys in the secondary, Jones(SS) & Brown(CB). We have some serious talent back. Remember, we basicly lost 2 starters(1 for sure). Verpaele & Brant will be back after injuries. Verpaele probably could have returned, but Williams played too good at FS. Gachette also looked great at FS. Burnett returns at SS, but the top 2 safeties have been mentioned before. Smith can battle back into the 2 Deep. Williams and Jenkins played great at the corners. Roberts was a great suprise backing them up. We have some serious talent waiting in the wings.

Punter

Lose another great one in Baker. HS verbal . . . these will always be battles when replacing.

Kicker

Return KO specialist in Teachey & FG in Benzer. benzer was shaky after taking over Bronson, but is now at 8 for 12.

Returns

Have everyone back.

AND, this could be another BEST recruiting class that could have FR phenoms. We still RS'd some serious talent from last year's class and we'll see how they turn out.

I did not post the threat to start controversy. It's not like I'm the one who said CJL sacrificed the season. I simply mentioned that I read it...and used that a precursor to a question about next season. And then you post your statement with eyes rolling? Not nice.
