I'm reading War of the Worlds now.  That world?

I am thinking he was using hyperbole to emphasize the point, we at least had some momentum.  I have never read it, is it any good?

So far I'm liking it. But I didn't know that it was written in the 1890s.  Remember watching the original movie (no, I wasn't around when it was released in 1953) and reading how the radio broadcast caused havoc across the country when people tuned in to listed after the beginning.  That was in 1938 and, no, I wasn't around for that.  Book by H G Wells and the radio broadcast was done by Orson Welles. Believe the radio reading was set in Grovers Mill (instead of England) just outside of my hometown of Trenton.

Did some searching and came up with this if you're interested.

Interesting the way they timed the radio broadcast. There was a major show that always aired, but was not that night. Welles knew it and convinced his station . . . everyone tuned into the major show while Welles notified the audience that this was a dramatization. When the wider audience tuned into Welles show, they thought it was a real news broadcast.

Interesting read, thanks for sharing.  I think the the thing that stuck out most to me was a ventriloquist act being the star of a radio program.

Surprised to hear E.T. is pro-alien killing.  That time with Elliot really messed with his mind.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
