I don't know. This is always a chicken or the egg for me. You hire a guy who runs a great offense (not saying that's the case here) and he inherits a roster not designed for it. Does he change the offensive scheme that got him hired to fit the players he has or does he run his offense while teaching them and recruiting for his scheme? If he runs an offense to fit what he has, when does he make the change to the offense that got him the job? For instance, I get a job at a school that's run the triple option forever, do I come in as an air raid coach and run the option? That would seem to be what people who say "work with the roster" are asking for. 1) You're in trouble running the option you weren't hired for and 2) how do you recruit if you're running an offense you aren't qualified to do and kids see it weekly? Tell them you're working on it?

This isn't directed at you. Just thinking out loud.

Maybe as a HC you hire an OC that runs an offense for the talent that you have.

Agreed, but I will give him credit that I "thought" he was a better passer as a freshman than QF but QF had a higher FB IQ it seemed to me...

I actually dont...QF got a lot crap for his passing skills me included.....but he actually made plays.

That is something Timmy has really yet to execute.

Don’t be silly…he was their #1 recruiter and their fans are mad he is leaving. Why did he leave? Because he was third in the list of ever getting the OC position at WVU and CJS made sure he got paid.

I think Skingraft was talking about freshman year for both, which is all we can really compare, and TM was light years ahead of Q when it comes to passing their first year ..... mainly because Flowers only attempted 20 passes.

fair, but QF's 10th game of his career was the infamous Syracuse game. Timmy has 12 under his belt at this point.

Not sure I would call it 12 games for Timmy.  He was not the starter in the beginning of the season, so I don't count those.  Also I think he missed a game due to injury somewhere in there.

True, and every player's going to develop at a different rate. Hopefully Timmy progresses as much as Q did with the work and maturity of his first off season.

Trickett's specialty is TE/WR

CJS was a WR coach

We have 13 scholarship WR's

My only concern here is that Coach Scott needs to recognize that a football team has many positions, 3 major units, and he's showing a bit of an obsession with WR's. That's my only concern. Can this OC be a holistic OC and not just another pair of eyes on the WRs.

I'm going to say that this OC is an up and comer. He comes from football family, great recruiter and has had some success at the places/positions he has held. Hopefully, he is hungry and has more offensive talent/ skills than our HC. I didnt think we were going to lure a big name in w/ the demonstrated state of affairs of USF football to date. So, for now I'm going to say...Trickett may be just the Ticket for this job...

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
