Seems like he's a solid recruiter based on that article, so there's that.

Possibly he will lure a couple WVU recruits to come along with him for Fall term. ??

We‘re in no position to expect the best.  Get with it with Trickett.  Go Bulls!

You can't expect to get the best going 3-18 and running a pathetic offense. Hopefully this guy and along with the new DC are the missing pieces CJs needs to learn to coach instead of just use coach talk.  It isn't hard to improve our offense or defense. Mediocrity at this point would be a huge upgrade. WE just need guys that care and design schemes that fit our talent. I watched a video and he seems to be that guy or at least he talked like he was.

It more about Timmy improving than anything.

Agreed, but I will give him credit that I "thought" he was a better passer as a freshman than QF but QF had a higher FB IQ it seemed to me...

. . .. and didnt exactly use an offense set conducive to our talent makeup. . .

This was my major issue with CCW - a good coach adjusts his system/philosophy to the players he has

Hopefully Trickett understands this better than Weis - if he does, 2022 could be a breakout year.  If he does not, we are in for another miserable season

It seems to be the way of every OC we had since WT left with TJ Weist.

I suspect the ability to adjust to the players’ abilities in designing an offense is directly related to depth of experience.  Younger coaches run the offense they know rather than choose an offense from several they know.

I don't know. This is always a chicken or the egg for me. You hire a guy who runs a great offense (not saying that's the case here) and he inherits a roster not designed for it. Does he change the offensive scheme that got him hired to fit the players he has or does he run his offense while teaching them and recruiting for his scheme? If he runs an offense to fit what he has, when does he make the change to the offense that got him the job? For instance, I get a job at a school that's run the triple option forever, do I come in as an air raid coach and run the option? That would seem to be what people who say "work with the roster" are asking for. 1) You're in trouble running the option you weren't hired for and 2) how do you recruit if you're running an offense you aren't qualified to do and kids see it weekly? Tell them you're working on it?

This isn't directed at you. Just thinking out loud.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
