Edit: Nevermind, just saw the presser explaining. Dang that really stinks! We could've used a former 4-star prospect on the D-line. What a huge blow, no pun.

I heard it was academic related. But was it grades from this summer? I hope this can be resolved this year.

this is the part where we forget the "student" part of student athlete...

especially with NIL making these players feel like more of pro athletes than someone you'd sit next to in a chemistry lecture 

hopefully he can resolve the GPA situation and the team can stay healthy over the next few weeks so we avoid more big roster issues

At the same time you have to be a pretty bad student not make eligibility nowadays. Athletics has all types of tutors and people to help. The only way one does not make grades is if they are lazy.

I mean, yeah. I guess. the main point being, those athletes have significantly more access to academic resources than a regular student.

it would seem that, generally speaking, the odds are in their favor to have acceptable grades.

Many students also aren't devoting a full time job to a sport, hours studying game film, running, lifting weights and practicing. Even with a tutor, it is not as easy. Tutor don't memorize or do the work for you. Let's just hope tis man gets back on track now that he can just focus on his studies.

I'm not a big football x and o guy but I hear announcers talking about getting low in short yardage situations.  Don't like his chances of getting low.
