USF is on an island but its smack in the middle of one of the largest tv markets in the country as I pointed out unlike UConn, and in one of the best if not best recruiting states in the country.

Plus UConn rhymes with Douche.

Yeah, the B12 is a basketball conference.  The last 2 season's they've had how many teams finish the season in the top 10?  ZERO.

My point exactly , this year its the Big 12, next season it will more than likely be another, and so on,  It happens more often in BB than Football.

I will say though, if UConn and Cincy left and BYU, BSU, C-State and SDSU joined, the conference would still be pretty solid:

For better readability:

AAC East Division

  • East Carolina
  • Memphis
  • Navy
  • South Florida
  • Temple
  • Tulane
  • UCF

AAC West Division

  • Boise State
  • BYU
  • Colorado State
  • Houston
  • San Diego State
  • SMU
  • Tulsa

Well when you put it that way that's not a bad set-up. A truly American Conference.

Sorry meant to say USF is about 900 miles away from Morgantown , where as UConn is 795 miles away from Cincy according to your other post.   About  100 miles difference.  Bottom line no one is driving to ANY of the schools u proposed. So its really not a big deal.

USF is within 2 to 3 hours from Most if not ALL Big 12 schools via air. Time to come into the present day.  Bus trips are a thing of the past for the most part.

But the time saved by not having to drive once they land will all but make up for it. TIA is one of the best airports in the nation with direct flights to most major cities or easy connections.   (Not even close) One of the best with on time arrivals and departures as well unlike the northern cities. (Every day there is a potential for a delay or cancellation flying into the Northeast esp during BB and Football season.

That works much better for the non-revenue sports. You can be assured that football and maybe basketball fly charters, but all the non-revenue sports are going to fly commercial. And Let's face it, Hartford has no connections to the midwest. Tampa does.

Not to mention, your baseball/softball team can come down to Florida and play USF one weekend, Stetson on Tuesday/Wednesday, and then UCF the following weekend. 8 games, one trip.

Only if it is Spring Break. Can't miss a week of school.

That is why our midweek games are mostly local teams. (plus sometimes a North team down on their spring break)

Tampa to Hartford is 1105 air miles, or 1246 road miles.

Hartford to Cincy is 649 air miles, or 768 by road.

Since you went through the trouble would you mind see the air miles from Tampa to Austin, Lubbock, Dallas, Waco? Same for Hartford to all of those.

I'm heading to a meeting in a couple of min, but you can check for yourself on the link below.  Air miles to cities like Waco, and Lubbock aren't very meaningful since, it's unlikely that there are any non-stop flights to them.

In reality most teams would probably just fly in/out of Orlando then shuttle to Tampa, they have direct flights to those locations and are generally cheaper with more departure/arrival times than Tampa.  Not sure how that fits into the USF narrative but from a practical standpoint that's probably more likely.
