No one knows, but this is the most mismanaged conference in the P5. Thinking they will do something logical (like adding 4) seems like a long shot. Who knows maybe they have got their **** together.

The Big 12 is a joint property with Fox and ESPN. It is my opinion that the Big 12 is being manipulated as a destabilizing factor for other conferences to decrease their value. If it is to be used in such a fashion, it will have to become relevant. Fox wants into the southeast, ESPN wants to control all of college football.

 

Unfortunately for ESPN, the B1G grew to strong to be controlled by them. So, ESPN settled on controlling everyone else. ESPN owns the SEC and ACC outright. They are also part owners of the Pac and Big 12. ESPN wants to push the SEC as the equal or better of the B1G at every turn. They want FSU and Ga Tech in the SEC. These are my own thoughts.

 

Big 12 gets Florida market as well as NY and New England. Big 12 gets a Conference network leaving the ACC as the only P5 Conference without it's own network. FSU and Ga Tech bail. ACC drops in value and cost. Fox will be more then willing to flip most of the cost of the Big 12 to keep Texas in the fold and the ACC becomes the new American.
