OBTW,  he said we needed a larger DONOR BASE (not just more money from our small donor base) as well as much larger season ticket sales numbers, and butts in the seats.

Thought that was funny too.  Trip doesn't believe anything until after it happens, and even then he doubts it really happened.

This is the kind of thing the B12 needs to be focused on.  Where the growth is over the next 20 years, not the next 2 years.

Couple of things surprised me:

  • The third-highest valued G5 team is Connecticut, valued only 5% less than us.
  • Quite a few of our elite former Big East brethren that have moved onto the P5 are ranked below us: Pittsburgh (-12%), West Virginia (-12%), Louisville (-14%), and Rutgers (-36%) (maybe not so much of a surprise there).
  • The names that seem to be mentioned most extensively in Big 12 expansion are valued significantly less than us: Boise State (-19%), Cincinnati (-63%), Houston (-71%), SMU (-71%), Memphis (-72%). The only one worth more is BYU (+7%).

Doesn't mean anything in expansion talks, that I know of, but not too bad for a team with no OCS. Or maybe that would subtract from our value? Maybe we should get an OCS thread going :FIREdevil:

Trip doesn't believe Internet gossip and rumors, along with off hand remarks made to focus groups ..... and you of all people should know that the remarks Harlan made had no real merit because if he was really talking about what's needed for a P5 to come calling, an OCS would have been the first thing out of his mouth. According to that, in an open market today for college football teams, UCF or USF's team would fetch roughly $70 million more than Houston's ... not sure anything more needs to be said about the validity of that guy's work.

Sorry boys,  just as I called it, it is doubtful that there is going to be any expansion.

The only expansion issue that matters is WWTD, What Will Texas Do.  I don't think there is any way they allow B12 expansion which results in them ever playing football in Storrs, CT.  I also think that by the time they get around to allowing expansion with USF in the B12 then they will have one foot out the door to the B10 or PAC.

Why sorry? We're supposedly not in the talks anyway .... and personally, I think if it goes the way the article says, with the top 2 seeds playing, this is the perfect way to crown a champion if you have to have a ccg .... as long as they continue to play all teams in the conference AND the tiebreaking for seeds is strictly based on in-conference data. No outside rankings coming into play.

Lets hope the B12 can have a CCG without adding any teams.  If they did have to add it wouldn't be us, and most likely would hurt the AAC by taking Cincy and UConn, further devaluing the AAC.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
