Would we then be able to play for the Mountain West championship sometimes?

This is the whole point of deregulation, letting the conferences do what ever they want.

Lol, but seriously it would seem to open the door for any other football independents that want to get into the CFB playoff limelight to hook up with a P5 playoff.

I wonder why ND would want that?

Imagine if you're 9-2 Notre Dame and not ranked in the top 4.  With no CCG you have no way to improve your ranking and make the playoffs.  If you go play the in the ACC CCG and win, now you are 10-2 with a win over probably another top 10 team.  BOOM, you just made the playoffs.

Also, that's an added revenue stream for ND.  A rather large added revenue stream.

Perhaps more importantly, their case to be in the NC playoff is strengthened if they are a P5 conference winner.  The real question is, why would the other ACC schools want that.  One of them would get frozen out of the ACC championship game.

If the conferences can create their own rules due to deregulation, who knows how it might eventually turn out.  The ACC could make a provision (and I am completely making this up) that IF one of the division winners is not ranked in the top 15 by the CFB Playoff committee AND Notre Dame is ranked higher than 15th, that ND can take the place of the lower rated division champion in the CCG. If the ACC team won, they would further improve their position by beating a top 15 ND team.  If ND wins, they improve their position by beating a top 15 ACC team.

IF ND isn't ranked higher than the winner of the ACC Coastal or ACC Atlantic, they dont get to participate.

One thing to keep in mind, last year Jose tended to go small against UConn, putting his best scoring threats on the floor, which meant Jenkins was playing the 5. Weber is also banged up. So, Jesperson might gain time at the 4, but I am not sure she can play the 5 against UConn.

When Jenkins is playing the 4 and gets hurt, plug in Jesperson and keep going.

When Jenkins is playing the 5 and gets hurt, what do you do? It isn't easy.

I thought Cashin played a good game yesterday. Seemed to be fairly aggressive...

And to combat that, the other conferences would be doing wacky stuff too, trying to get the best matchup in their ccg ..... What a *********** this is going to be if it goes to that.

For some reason it was jumping from one thread to another. This isn't even the one that was showing when I posted it.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
