The American Conference should rebrand it self as the "Power 6 Conference"

Let's bump this up for another 100 pages...

Rumors of Oklahoma and Kansas to the Big10...?

Would completely collapse that conference.  IMO, Texas would not stay in what would remain and would join the PAC12.

Would the rest join up with the AAC / ACC (W. Virginia)?

people are always talking about how rocky the big12 is. I wouldn't be surprised if they jump ship. I think we can peal off a couple of decent schools in the scrum. We may end up with 4 Texas teams though. Scoop WV (come back home), Baylor, TCU, and the rest of them fight to death. I don't want any of the Kansas schools, and I'm lukewarm at best on ok state. We may need to go fish for a 4th team

Big 10 - Oklahoma and Kansas - 16 teams (T Boone makes considerable effort to stop this, then switch Kansas with OK State

SEC - No one - 14 teams

ACC - WVU, and ND finally joins a conference and joins them.  In in reality ND still thinks they are God's gift to football (considering this season) and refuse, so they poach UConn or (if BC refuses...)  Cinci  - 14 teams

Pac12 - Texas goes with Tex Tech - 14 teams

AAC - TCU, Baylor, OK State  - 14 teams (OK State possibly switched with Kansas)

Iowa, K State to either AAC , makes it 16 or to MWC makes it 13

New "P5" - AAC, ACC, Big16, Pac14, SEC

Call me Skeptical TAGGART, but I don't see why a school would want to leave the B12 when they are raking in the money.

Leaving for more money, sure. But for any other reason, I don't see. And Kansas leaving... I would believe it more if they were planning to shut down football. They stink worse than UCF. Okay, maybe not that bad...

get out from under texas, make more money, have a championship game and not be left out because the other big 12 schools don't want to expand? just a few random thoughts

Possibly, but they did invite TCU and a Dallas market that they already had before TCU. Same thing applies to Houston.

I've seen this a couple times and it's not really accurate, at least as to Houston. With the oil industry, Houston is basically a melting pot with a ton of transplants. If any school has a majority it's A&M, and they are in the SEC. UH does have decent support, although with a huge metro area like this it's impossible to really dominate the market with a single team.

If Texas and Oklahoma left the B12 then you would probably see the 'P5' become the 'P4' with 16 teams in each conference. I don't see the B12 surviving nor the AAC being part of the 'P5' without TX or Okl.. The 4 conference champions would duke it out in the college playoff.

i agree with this. If Texas and Oklahoma bolt from the Big 12 it would set off, not only conference realignment, but basically the complete restructure of college football.

In the past, there has been talk of 4 16 team leagues with a true college playoff system.

I can see it happening.

I thought the reason the BCS had to include some methods for the non BCS conference 1-A schools a path to get into a BCS bowl was that there weren't enough teams to be a majority of the entire 1-A class.

Putting it in current terms-- are the 64 teams (4 x 16 team conferences)  in the suggested new structure enough schools to avoid action by those outside the P4? If this is the case-- would they perhaps divide the division in half so that both sides could have their own NCAA playoffs - with some bowls attached?

I remember seeing several media folk break down who would be included in the 64 team format.  If I recall, USF was on the bubble.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
